I was wondering if people would be interested in doing the present exchange like we did a few years ago? We can also collect toys for tots as we did before. If anyone would be interested I wouldnt mind getting the ball rolling on the project. I mean the last year we did it, people got live animals, food stamp t-shirts, pregnant lady porn, and drinking games! Who wouldnt want to participate!? Both players form the mens and womens team are welcome!

I will conduct passing drills to warm up the arm at 12:40 on game day if anyone feels they need to work on their passing routes (Frenchie).

I only hope Tom Cody and Bull (you remember, the babies) will not be on the same team this year. I can't handle another year of listening to two grown men whine and cheat the entire day.

knee update

I had surgery on my knee last Tuesday. The doctor said that it took more work to fix it than he anticipated, but its fixed. It's doing good though. I wasn't able to walk out of the surgery like he previously told me. I am in a stabilizer splint for a while. I should be back by spring.

Ohio Rugby Select Side

We have been requested to select two players to play on a Ohio Select Side in the San Diego Invitational Tournament in San Diego, CA. This tournament is held just prior to the International 7's tournament held annually in San Diego in February. The Select Side would play on Thursday the 12th and Friday the 13th. The 7's tournament follows on Saturday and Sunday.

Please post if you are interested and can definitely make the trip. It will be a great experience as well as a chance to see International level 7's play.

Some costs will be covered, but the airline ticket cost is on the player.

See the details listed below:

Ohio Rugby Union is taking a Mens Select Side to the San Diego Invitational on Thursday and Friday the 12 and 13 of February before the Sevens Tournament.

Each teams coach and captain will select their finest players based on the following matrix

Division one team- 4 player

Division two team- 3 player

Division three teams- 2 players

Additional player will be added by selectors due to need in certain positions.

Once selected by your coach and captain you must meet the following criteria

1. Meet Wednesday night at San Diego Airport.

2. Pay for your plane ticket to San Diego.

3. Sell 15- 10 dollar raffle tickets.

You will get the following:

. The prestige of representing your state

2. Hotel rooms for four nights

3. Ticket to Saturdays 7s

4. Ohio rugby polo

5. Transportation to events

6. Breakfast food

If you placed an order this Fall for some Akron rugby merchandise, it has arrived. Everything came out very nicely. I'll be passing stuff out at various Akron Rugby off season events including next week's Turkey Bowl.

If you can't make it out to any of the events, just get ahold of me and we can make arrangements.

Sad News - Jeff Ebner

Gentlemen,

It is with great sadness that I write to inform you of the death of Jeff Ebner. He was assaulted at his shop on Thursday evening and passed away from his injuries on Friday.

Jeff played for many years and was respected by all who played with and against him. Most of the younger guys will know his son Nate, who now plays at Ohio State. Please pass this news on to your teams and old boys. The information for his service and a link to a news story is below.

There will be a Memorial Service for Jeff Ebner on Tuesday 11/18 from 4-7pm at Conroy Funeral Home, 1660 E. Hight St., Springfield, Ohio. Thanksgiving Day 4-mile run

As in years past I'll be running in the Gennersaret 4-mile run that launches from 517 West Exchange St at 9:00am. The course sucks (alot of hills and it goes through Glendale Cemetary) and the weather is usually shitty. However, it's for a great cause, the cost is cheap ($15.00) and we can drink somewhere when we're finished. Hope to see you there.

Whiskey and Chainsaw Revival #3

Well, it's not going to be 60 degrees and sunny on Saturday, but we still need as many people as we can get to help with the work that needs to be done. We need as many sharp and working chainsaws as we can get, and people to operate them. We need people to run the brush hogs, cut and haul wood, etc.. Bring a crock pot of your best chili, or a quart of your favorite whiskey-- and dress for the weather

If anyone has a space heater or 2 for the shed, please bring those too.
