: Integrating the chat room with your message board

Your chat room can be integrated with your Website Toolbox message board in many ways. The integration options are described below.

Chat Link

A chat link can automatically be added to the main navigation of your message board. This will allow your users to easily launch the chat room while browsing your message board.

The chat link can be enabled/disabled by following the instructions below:

  1. Login to your Website Toolbox account.
  2. Click the General Settings link under the Your Message Board section.
  3. Toggle the Display a chat link option under the Chat Room options section.
  4. Submit your changes.

For external message boards not provided by Website Toolbox, you will have to manually integrate the chat link by copying the code from the Get HTML Code section of the Website Toolbox members area.

Active Users List

This option allows you to display a list of online chat users at the bottom of the main page of your message board. This will help increase participation in the chat room because more users will want to use the chat room when they see that other users are already actively chatting in it.

The active users list can be enabled/disabled by following the instructions below:

  1. Login to your Website Toolbox account.
  2. Click the General Settings link under the Your Message Board section.
  3. Toggle the Display list of active chat users option under the Chat Room options section.
  4. Submit your changes.

There is currently no active users list integration available for external message boards not provided by Website Toolbox.

Membership Integration

The membership integration option allows a member of your Website Toolbox message board to login to the chat room with the same username as their message board account. If the user is already logged into the message board, they will automatically be logged into the chat room when they click the chat link. If the user is not already logged into the message board, the chat room will display a login screen asking the user to enter their message board username and password.

Membership integration can be enabled/disabled by following the instructions below:

  1. Login to your Website Toolbox account.
  2. Click the General Settings link under the Your Chat Room section.
  3. Enable message board membership integration option.
  4. Submit your changes.

The Chat room access option on the same page will allow you to allow guests to login by pressing the cancel button on the chat room login window.

Membership integration is currently not available for external message boards not provided by Website Toolbox. In this case a user would be able to login to your chat room using any username they choose.
