I was initially writing to see if someone could post a note stating that the house band would be playing in September - i was looking online at events Calendar's for the beach area and did not see any postings - maybe just not posted that far in advance... Every year me and my girlfriends leave NOLA for a week to vacation at the beach and we love coming here - especially for the music and i am seeing notes below about the band and just wanted to say how much we LOVE partying there and cutting up all night!!!! Banana Republic is such a fun and lively band and for the past 3 years we have so many memories of our summer trip and having a blast dancing all night - we look forward to it every year!!! So ......... lookin' forward to partying at Bamboo Willie's this September - listening to the great band!!!!

Being one of the said members in the previous post. I assure you the "rumor" is just that, and nothing else.

There are rampant rumors flying about that another beach club has offered the main members of Banana Republic a gig. If this is true, whom will you get to replace them? This is sad news and we hope it is only a rumor......

In addition to the other comments about Banana Republic. I watched something incredible the other night. I saw a band kickin ass and having a good time...... until the large black guy got up there and seemed to suck the life out of the band and crowd. What exactly is his purpose. He is hardly ever up there and when he is, it pretty much stinks. I have heard this from lots of other people also. I honestly do not see why the other members don't loose him and go do their own thing. But where would that leave the club I wonder?????

I just felt compelled to write my opinion regarding the possibility of Bamboo Willie's not renewing the contract for Banana Republic.  There are few places in this area for adults of all ages to go and have a great time.  Right now, that place is Bamboo Willie's.  I am a native of Pensacola and I can only say that it would be a huge mistake to lose this band.  Banana Republic is the real deal.  Each and every time I go there I totally enjoy myself.  They play a variety of music that makes people want to get up and dance and forget about their worries for a few hours.  Banana Republic is made up of very talented musicians.  I must say that Jonathan Grooms is an amazing bass guitarist and a real entertainer.  He engages the crowd.  Jerry is incredible on the lead guitar and both have amazing vocals.  Mark is so much fun to watch and is also very talented.  We don't get to see much of Doug, but we can sure hear the his amazing talent.  Conrad hasn't been participating as much lately.  Don't know what's up with that, but I think he needs to be a bit more involved.  Bottom line, it would not be a wise business decision to lose this band.  If they go, so do I and all of my friends.  Word of mouth has brought the people to you and word of mouth will take them away.  Please don't make that mistake.
