Prior Service Branch, if any USMC RateRate;Title:Yrs. of Service, if applicable 1st. Lt. (mustang), 4yrs Comments: As many Marines have noted, having the USS Bexar bring us home from Vietnam was a real blessing. It gave us time to get the jungle in our systems and to calm down. The food fight in Okinawa was an event that has stayed with me for years, I had no idea it was so famous. I was not one of the Marines bringing the eggs up on deck but I sure cheered them on. I believe we won that fight, no question. The storm was quite and experience, scary, but not as scary as being the only officer to fight in our boxing "smoker". I fought Cpl. Salas in I believe what was the last fight of the event. He was very kind and did not humiliate me as much as he could have. Thank you Navy, my time spent aboard all of the fleet I experienced was a joy.

I remember the rough seas, & the boxing matches on hatch cover on deck. I also remember how messy it got when my follow Marines got sea sick!! Never did myself, I learned about crackers!! Thanks for the memories.
