State/Country New York Have you been to a Ramble? yes Subject Halloween Ramble Comments: Dear Levon I don’t usually post things on the internet but wanted to take a moment to send a message of thanks, and big love and respect your way. We had absolutely the most amazing time playing at your Halloween Ramble and listening to you all that I could not refrain from trying to reach out in some way. To come to your home, to play music in your wonderful space and with your beautiful drums for that matter was an unbelievable dream come true and an honor that could not be surpassed. The walls of that room just ring with love and music and to have participated in that history is truly unfathomable for all of us in our band and we do not take it lightly. Levon you have been an inspiration to me, my band, and everybody you sits down at the drums or tries to sing a song, whether they are aware of it or not. So thank you Levon. Thanks for your soulfulness, your deep giving sound and energy, your warmth, hospitality and love of songs and the people who make them. You have set the bar so high for us young musicians and we can only hope to live up to that standard. And thanks to the band and the crew…you all sounded so amazing and are an inspiration. Everyone was so kind and generous to us and we really appreciated it. I can’t wait to see you all again -Nick Kinsey of Elvis Perkins in Dearland
State/Country TX Have you been to a Ramble? 4x + a road show Comments: Greetings from the southeast Texas piney woods. Speaking of pines, I am seriously pining (on the edge of jonesing) for another trip to the farm. Don't know when it will materialize, but it will. A thought occurred today that I figured I could share here better than anywhere else. Hadn't no Dirt Farmer tunes popped up lately on my pod, so I had to prod the pod and got it to playin' "False Hearted Lover Blues". So then I thought, "You know, the closer the music gets to the root, the better it sounds." Of all Levon's music I've listened to, the closer he gets to home, the better it sounds. "Ain't No More Cane on the Brazos" gets me every time. And don't ask me why, but if I could only carry one Band tune with me to eternity, it would be Caledonia Mission - that song is from the tap root. I calls it Levon's music, 'cause "moonshine time" and Modoc Arkansas wouldn'tve made it in there without him. But the folk and gospel sounds that come from The Levon Helm band are unique, indeed timeless. That downhome music is the music that stays, and is in fact the wellspring itself. No one today does it better, and then you get to go see what you been hearin' - Mercy. I ain't never in my life... like I say, I'm jonesing here. Thank you for doing what you love, and for sharing it in such a unique way.

State/Country Maryland Have you been to a Ramble? Yes! Subject Halloween Ramble Comments: This was just a great evening that I will never forget - Little Sammy Davis and Elvis Perkins primed the audience for the magical Helm band. Levon is the hub around which all of this great music spins. I could tell that many others there were as moved by the experience as I was. Thank you, Levon - live long and prosper!
State/Country ON, Canada - Thunder Bay Have you been to a Ramble? Not so far Subject Old Times in London at the Hawks Nest Comments: Hi Levon I hope you are still doing well. Got a touch of the stuff in my lungs these days. I used to enjoy you boys when I lived in London. Those were heady times! Several of us formed a simple little band and I had picked up a tele and vibrolux to get me started. We had a lot of fun playing at the Legions and a wedding or two, but the majority of the material was not my passion - although we did do The Weight and several others. Went back to school and was forced to sell the equipment. A sad day. I didn't play a lot after that, but the flame never went out and last year I picked up a Gibson Lucille and a Princeton and returned to the fold. It took a while to loosen up these fingers, but when I did, I enjoyed it like I never did before. Guess the years help absorb the music like food - makes the hair stand up on my neck when I play the way I feel. I've always kept my ear to the rail so I have many tunes to keep me plucking, by ear, as I've always done. Thanks for sticking around and being true to yourself. And thanks for coming on up to Canada, landing in my home town! All the best. Glenn
State/Country Idaho/USA Have you been to a Ramble? Yes. (I have now...) Subject Wow! Comments: Halloween was amazing in Woodstock and the Ramble at Levon's was - quite simply - stunning. It was my first time there and although a quick trip (me from Boise and my son from Las Vegas) I hope to do it again. The entire vibe was too good to try to describe. The staff was great, the venue is killer and Levon and the band are too much. It's been a couple days and I'm still blown away. If you're reading this - and/or other posts - trying to decide whether or not to go... stop now, go to the order tickets link or to the phone and just buy 'em and plan on it. Thanks so much Levon for all your killer drumming, soulful singing (easy on the voice) and fine mandolin playing - and for putting together and carrying on with such an amazingly good-vibe trip. Take care and all the best to you and yours... TT
State/Country Hamilton, Ontario, Canada Have you been to a Ramble? Third one on Halloween! Subject Spooky.....~~~ Comments: Wow, another awesome performance by Levon and the whole band Saturday night! My 3rd ramble and of course, never my last! Levon, even though you weren't singing Saturday night, you were still shinin' up there as always, making everyone around you glow with excitement. My face actually hurt from smiling SO much! Teresa stepped it up with Sampson and Delilah, incredible! Sorry to see Amy leave, she was ripping it up too! (hope you're feeling better!) Brian Mitchell certainly put a spell on the crowd with the spooky rendition of "I Put a Spell on You", perfect for the special Halloween feel. Jimmy Weider rocked as usual and of course Larry was nothing to blink at! The horn section, whoa! Overall, never disappointing! The food, company and pumpkins carved by the guests all set the spooky mood for an eerie good time! Until next time.....
State/Country NYS-USA-SOL Have you been to a Ramble? New Years Eve will be our first! Subject I'm getting ready. Comments: Cant wait to party into 2010 with you guys. See you later! Snapper
State/Country massachusetts, USA Have you been to a Ramble? yes Subject Ramble Comments: One of the best shows I have ever attended. Right up there with Watkins Glen and hanging out all day back stage at a Dave Matthews concert and of course Elvis Presley concert in prov., ri in 1973. The Ramble that my wife an I attended featured the Charlie Hunter Trio. They and Charlie Hunter, individually, are unbelievable. Just purchased their newest CD-go out and buy it. Waiting to go to another Ramble as soon as possible.
State/Country CT Have you been to a Ramble? Yeppers Subject Ollabelle w/ Larry & Teresa Comments: Yes indeed! Ollabelle with Larry & Teresa at the City Winery in Soho last night was a powerful night of music. Many highlights as Butch pointed out. It was wonderful to see them all together again and the pacing of the show was nice with various players rotating in and out during different songs. Teresa was singing like a women possessed on the Rev. Gary Davis classic ‘Samson And Delilah’ accompanied only by Larry’s driving guitar. It’s one of the most intense performances I’ve seen in recent memory…..a real powerhouse. Another highlight was when the great William Bell joined Ollabelle for a duet with Amy on ‘Everybody Loves a Winner’. That’s a song that Amy has done many times with Ollabelle and at some of the Rambles, but the version that they did last night went to a new place. Everyone was obviously overjoyed to be sharing the stage with William Bell, and Amy looked liked a kid on Christmas morning. Too many highlights to list them all, but ‘Attics’ was beautiful as always, and the performance of Dolly Parton’s ‘My Blue Tears’ was a thing of beauty…just Teresa, Amy and Fiona’s voices accompanied by Larry on fiddle and a supporting foundation of pump organ courtesy of Glenn Patscha. Kudos to all…..it was a wonderful reunion of sorts, and they managed to bring the homey feel of the Ramble down to the City last night. Todd
Have you been to a Ramble? got to miss Halloween <sigh> Subject Music, what else ? With all of the original Ollabelle members back togther again, with "Papa" Jay Collins sitting in on his saxes & flute, & Larry & Teresa , they all showed us the way home. Amy & Teresa & Fiona held us in the palm of their hands with the most delicate & haunting harmonies,, WOW !!!! Larry led the way on fiddle, Telecaster & his big ol Gibson, with that unique touch he brings to every project he is on. Attics of My Life, Time Out for the Blues,, Larry & Julie Miller's new tune, The Louvin Bros tune ( name escapes me ) some new tunes from Teresa, with that Church gospel swing to them,, Byron's & Glenn's amazing voices on tunes & my personal fave - TONY LEONE !! the man with a Band-like voice,, what a night,,, the end of the night they left with the most haunting version of Down by the Riverside with Tony thumpin his tubs to a beat from another galaxy - slammin the cymbals with his tambourine while keeping a steady thump on his floor toms,, amazing display of drumming greatness,, THanks to Ollabelle, Larry, Teresa, Tony,Fiona,Byron,, Mr Glenn Patscha, Jake Guralnick, Rich, & Ahron Foster for a fun-filled respect-filled evening of Heavenly Music !
