Comments: Help!!! Anyone have a field approval for 850 tires. 600 and 700 are on the type certificate but not 850. We have several folks that want to put them on but the FAA needs to see one that another FSDO has approved. Please send me an email if you can send me a copy. texdog@tx.rr.com Regards: Fred
Comments: I have just stumbled on the IBDA website and found it very interesting. I clicked on the Birddog Combat Units page and found something surprising. The writer says there were no L-19 units in Korea. Upon my arrival in Japan in early 1953, I ferried a brand new L-19 from Yokohama (where it had been assembled) to Fukuoka, Japan and on to Inchon, Korea. From there I was assigned to the 3rd Infantry Division Aviation Company. This cetainly was an L-19 unit. We had at lease 15 L-19s along with several L-17 Navions. Each division in Korea had an Army Aviation Company with numerous L-19s. I remained with the 3rd Division flying both types until I was rotated to the states in mid 1954.
Comments: Wes, In the past, i have encountered new tanks that the adapter ring was not properly lined up, so first i would suggest removing the adapter rings, then get the tank settled into the bay, and shift it around to where it mostly fits,(ensuring for clearance of the flap drive cables) then using a long straight edge, line up the adapter ring. ( 1st, the tank straps must be secured for proper seating of the tank). also what part # tanks did you buy? feel free to give me a call steve noyes noyes ent birddogs are us home of the Lyc 540 "SUPER DOGS" 92 Hanover st Newbury,ma.01951 ph 9788360361
