Comments: I was just feeling a touch nostalgic this morning and began wondering what happened to all those I knew many years ago at RCAF Base Clinton and RCAF Namao. I was educated as a NavAids Radar Tech in 1966-67 and posted to Namao for 5 years. I have been searching for old loves and friends.

Comments: Hello Lou Just a word to say hello and I hope your still around.....I haven't had the opportunity to chat with you since the PTL site disappeared. There are quite a few good sites available (but so far nothing as good as the old PTL site). Have a glance at VETERANSOF CANADA.COM....theres an Air Force spot there. Other than that, "rattle my cage" at ve2gbq@sympatico.ca.......we'll keep each other company...lol. Phil
Comments: Hello I where in Fontainebleau Camp Guynemer 12 months year 1957 Militair Police Belgium Air Force Many greetings Cordons Marcel Leuven - Belgie
Comments: Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and yours. After not seeing each other for about 30 years, we met twice this year. Must admit the Tel Tech reunion in Sep was special, but so was the (2) coffee break at Tim in Ottawa last month. Hope to do this more often. Again great site and keep up the good work. RYRYRY Roger
Comments: I was stationed in Fontainebleau,France with the 833rd Signal Service Co. from 1952 to Jan. 1954. We in an area that our Co., an American Hq. Co. & a British Co. I was from Cranston, Rhode Island, U.S.A. then, now I live in West Warwick, R.I., U.S.A. Just found your site, so I'll have to look up some of my stuff.
Comments: I WAS EMPLOYED AS A CIVILIAN AT AFCE FONTAINBLEAU IN THE EARLY 50s. WORKED WITH ENGLISH, AMERICAN AND CANADIANS. NOTICED IN THE PICTURES OF BEAVERBANK 1955 A PERSON I HAVE COME TO KNOW VERY WELL, SATCH VICKERS. FUN TO SEE HIM "WHEN". ANYONE STATIONED THERE AT THAT TIME I WOULD BE HAPPY TO HEAR FROM (FONTAINEBLEAU).
Comments: Hello Lou: Pulled up your website and went into the Edgar area. We were both station there in 1957. I started looking at the pictures and there were friends that I worked with and spent many hours with in the wet canteen. Quite a nostalgic feeling. Great web site Lou. Keep up the good work. Pat Paterson RCAF Radar Tech, 1955 to 1960
Comments: Greetings to all "old" Telephone Techs!
Comments: This is a great site Lou. I see names appearing that I haven't heard for >40 years. I left Clinton in 1958 as a TelTech (Telephone Tech), and was in St. Margarets NB from 58 to 61. Mont Apica 61-62, and Falconbridge 62-63. The Telephone Tech. trade was closed in 1963 because the new SAGE equipment automated our system. I re-mustered to TG Tech in 63. Looking forward to renewing friendships with old buddies at the reunion. Thanks Gary Green
Comments: Hi Lou Sure hope the Pinetree Line website survives. Do you know of any old timer telephone techs from the 1950's and early 60's when the trade closed? Based on Ma Bell Standards, the training was most suitable on "Civvy Street" and many large corporations: RCA, Marconi, GE, Univac, etc actually sought us out when our RCAF enlistment was ending. Always be grateful to 1R&CS- RCAF Clinton for the excellent education. Does anyone remember some of our mentors like WO1 Brennon the SWO or Acey Ducey Brucey who reigned over the main gate. Look forward to some info on why the tel-tech trade closed.... Regards and 73's....Ed Turcotte in NJ....edturcotte@verizon.net
Comments: Hi Lou: Thank you for creating an entirely new site and volunteering to be the official Webmaster for the TG Tech/Teletype & Cypher tech reunion. Once a TG tech, always a TG tech. Roger Hache ex RCAF TG tech
Comments: This seems like a great way of getting in touch with old aquaintance's. I was in Beaverbank before I got transfered to Parent in 58. Keith Blakeney
Comments: Lou: Merry Xmas and Bonne Année to you and your family. Life here in the nation's capital is great but ...cold...probably a little Florida sunshine would help. On my last comments I forgot to mention Glen Wardrop. Another TG tech during my stay in St Maggies 59-60.You do remember him from our Kingston days am sure. Again great site with lots of memories from the old days.
Comments: Came across you by accident when I was idly googling Fontainebleau where I was stationed 1953 to 1956 in the UK Army detachment assigned to ALFCE. Most of your correspondents seem to be Canadian Air Force but I thought you might like to add a few lines from a UK Soldier! Don't think you had conscription in Canada at that time but we were subjected to it in UK. It is unlikely that I would have signed up without being faced with two years mandatory "sentence". For most of the time I was Secretary to Major-General J.R. Cochrane, CB CBE, Commander of Div Ops, ALFCE and I think some sort of deputy commander under SHAPE. I had spent the years 1940/45 in Montréal with my mother's family but we returned to UK after the war. Following military service I spent three years in Bolivia working as the secretary to the Manager of a subsidiary of W.R. Grace & Co. New York, then I came (back) to Canada and began a 35 year career with CN from where I retired in 1995. We moved to Kanata in 1999. c.w.
Comments: great website--Would it be possible to post videos--I have some colour 8mm 'converted' movies from Resolution Island and elsewhere along the Pinetree where I was stationed.
Comments: Hi Lou: Me again .. been here before .. I saw a post by Ed Turcotte (do not know him) and it brought back memories of RCAF Station St John Que . I was on course 5640. I am also lacking pictures of St John. I remember one of the guys took individual pictures of some us upon graduation. He was charging something like $1 to cover the pictures and the mailing. What a rip off, never got the pictures. On a serious note now.. this site is great... lots of pictures from courses and pinetree sites etc. Some of the TG Techs I was with in St Maggies (59-60), were Elmer Kant, Ray Forbes, Denis Dube,Wayne Brazeau and the Boss "Sgt" Matt Styba. Sure u know some of them. Tks Lou for all the souvenirs and the hard work u done on this site. keep it up. Roger
Comments: Hi Ed Thanks for that post. If you want to send me your e-mail address I can give you some info and also keep you updated Regards Lou louis_gervais@hotmail.com
Comments: I joined the rcaf in nov 1956, my class in st john,pq was 5648, then on to 1r&cs clinton (tel-tech). First posting on the pinetree line was Sidney '58 -- Parent'59-- Lac St Denis'60. Sure would be great to hear from some oldtimers from those days, especially my class of 5648--wonder if any rcaf class photos exist from either st john or clinton? Saw a "young" picture of my former boss cpl Dick Nex who I served with in Parent on Lou Gervais website. Really well done pictorial history! Any other old telephone techs out there-- sure was a great foundation to start my career --now, i believe i know what "per ardua ad astra" was all about. regards Ed from New Jersey
Comments: Just came upon this site. Interesting.
Comments: Hi Lou. It has been along time old buddy. We did not know each other during our military days but made up for it during our Dec days. Glad to hear you are well and basking in the Florida sunshine. We will not be in Arizona this year and will endure the winter in Southwest Ontario in the Forest City of London. Say hi to anyone we know. Best Regards

Comments: I am interested in hearing from anyone who was Greenwood in 1958-1960. I was out of the RCAF by then having babies( born in Middleton and Aylesford hospitals, ) but I was married to an airman based at Greenwood. We lived in an old farm house in Aylesford. We never did get a PMQ. Housing was very scarce at that time in the Annapolis Valley. My kids went to sleep close to the barn with the cows, but it didn't seem to harm them, although my daughter now collects cows. Figure that one out! anyway, I would like to hear from anyone who was at Greenwood during the time I was My married name was WELLS my husband was Joe Wells. He was a Firefighter. Thanks, .... Nola Miller
Comments: Hello Lou: I was looking at your site and thought I recognized the name. When I saw the picture of your wife Marie I realized, yes, this is the Lou Gervais I have met. I went to Stellarton High School with Marie and met the both of you in RCAF Stn. Summerside PEI. I was in Clinton in 1958, on a TTop course, and in Summerside in '59. Marie might be interested that Bill and I have moved to Westville in Oct. of this year (2007) and I pass her homestead quite often in my travels. Say hi to Marie; wouldn't mind if she updated me on the whereabouts of her siblings. Nice site Lou, hope you and the family are well. Ann ghenderson@accesswave.ca
Comments: Great site. What a pleasure it was to get the link on Michael Koerner's NOTAM site. This certainly brings back lots of memories and I will watch carefully to see who comes on board . I was stationed in Parent 1953-54 then Lac St Denis 1954-55. I always wondered what happened to my best friends and hope they see this and sign on some time. Rosemarie (Roxy) Paul from Kelowna BC, Lillian Allan from Revelstoke BC and Dee Dumas from BC.(we were all stationed in Ottawa before going to Parent) Note: The towers in Parent didn't look as big in the pictures as I remembered them. Is this a senior's moment?? Thanks. Joy
Comments: Hi Lou, Just visited your web site. When were you in Fontainebleau. I was there from April 1954 to April 1956. Looked at some of your photos and it sure brought back memories.
Comments: Wonderful Web Site .Thanks so much Parent 1960-1964
Comments: Hello Mr. Gervais I want to thank you for a very unexpected gift. I was just browsing the Pinetree Line guestbook tonight when I saw your posting. Reading that you had a new photo of Parent on your site, I thought I'd have a look as my Mother was in Parent in the mid-50's. Imagine my surprise when I found a photo of her - Pat Gray! What a great snap to add to my collection of "found photos". A few years ago I found previously undiscovered pictures of her on the Pinetree site taken at both Edgar (she was there in '55) and Parent. Mum was with me when I discovered those ones - the look on her face was priceless. Sadly, she passed away in June of 2004, but I feel that she is just as surprised by this latest discovery and is smiling down on me tonight. With sincere gratitude, Sandi Bezanson-Chan PS - Do you happen to remember the occassion at which the picture was taken? PPS - I see that you were also in Lahr in the 70's - do you happen to know Roberta and John Bulmer? They were also in Lahr around that time and are my aunt and uncle - Roberta is Pat's sister.
Comments: Hi, interesting site. Sorry, I can't help with names. Most all the ones I knew were named, and the rest I can't recall. Nice memories.

Comments: Hi Lou, It's a great website bringing back many good memories. You may remember me, we worked together right up to the day you left Fontainebleau. I notice that John Hanlon has posted comments, it's good to see that he is still OK, we shared a room for a while with another signals guy whose name I can't remember. I also remember Marcel Gignac, didn't he play ice hockey for Paris while he was there. I'm now living in France with my wife of 44 years, but not in Fontainebleau. Keep up the good work, Mike. p.s. I have some pics around somewhere, I will try to find them and send them on.

Hi Lou...loved the photos of Fontainebleau...I was based there with the Royal Navy December 1959 to May 1961. I recall a Canadian (Wayne)marrying a Welsh girl (Daphne). Never did see them again after leaving Fontainebleau. I have been back to Fontainebleau three times in the last few years....it's still a wonderful place but not like we remember it. Thanks for the memories mate.

I was stationed at Camp Guynemer in the USAF Air Force from 1964 - 1967 when DeGalle kicked us out. Many good memories in France. I was looking at Dick Hertzfeld's and got your link. I enjoyed the pictures of Camp Guynemer. Thanks...Joe

I found your website very interesting. Having served with the RAF in Fontainebleau from 1960-1963. I had the pleaure in working with good CANADIAN operaters in the communications building 10 at Camp Guynemer. My memory is not very good but I can remember a guy called Alguire, a Mick Spence and a guy called Gignac. I found your site very interesting and will return to see any updates. Cheers for now.
