JUNE 10, 2007

Hello,
After 1st visiting this site, I was blown away by the amount of music that you had in your database. I admired you for sharing that with your friends, as I immediately realized that it took countless hours for you to do so. It would be redundant for me to say, "YOU SURE LOVE MUSIC!" I don't know if you were compelled by the artists, or the record labels to take your music site down. The way I see it is; they've really missed out on some future potential sales. Especially the older artists, as the record labels never had their interests at heart.

I would categorize your music website as a "Perpetual Living Musiceum."
Good luck on your next endeavor.

Response:

Roland,

I DO love my music. If I turn it up loud enough I can drown out the misery of the world and seek sanctuary within the calmness of my home. I'm not a recluse by any means but there are times when I just want to read or draw. I'm also an artist and someday I'll be able to share my art without fear of copyright infringement.

I agree, I was doing what I thought was good for the consumers and the music companies. I guess I'm out of touch.

Thank you for writing and stay tuned.

Well, it was great while it lasted.  I was so disappointed. I had been working on a computer that the sound didn't work...and I was anxious to get back on my computer so I could listen. Hadn't been on there for awhile and am totally in mourning.  Hope to see you back on again soon and that you and wish you and your family all the best!

Comments:

I'm not an internet browser at all but I was really taken in by this website. I was searching for a song that my childhood friend would actually sing to girls he broke up with ("Let's just kiss & say goodbye") and if that's not a good memory I don't know what is. This guy was the living, breathing Fonze. Anyway, your site came up. It had the song and alot more. I told my brothers and others who also really enjoyed your site. The commercials and TV themes were probably my favorites. They bring back a more innocent time that was before cell phones, internet, and smut being acceptable. I hope that your site becomes active soon. Otheriwse when I sing songs like "My name is Michael, I got a nickel", and my daughter thinks I am making them up, how can I prove that they actually existed!! The internet is so much more plain and boring without your site.

Response:

Dino,

I can certainly identify with all that you said. I'm not saying that I ever sang such a song to the girls that I left behind but it may have preserved many of the bridges that I burned in my past.

You addressed the primary reason for my website. That was, of course, to "introduce" the music of the past to the youth of today. I wish I could turn back the clock but that technology is decades away.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

I am making a periodic check to see how much progress you have made towards getting that wonderful music you furnished to us on a 24-hour/7-days a week basis back up and running!  The only qualms I have regarding internet radio is if I will be able to make a request for a song and get it played immediately without having to wait for the DJ to decide when to play it, which is sometimes, not at all! This happens when I call my local FM oldies station for a song, and after waiting all night to hear it, the DJ never gets around to playing it! In the meantime, keep up the fight! Good things take time, I hope you will win!

Response:

Laura,

I know what you mean about song requests going unfulfilled but one never knows how many other requests were fulfilled. This, by any means, is not justification by me but it would explain why it may occur. That doesn't make the pill any sweeter but it may make the pill just a little easier to take.

I'm not certain how it all may unfold but, one thing's for certain, it can't exist as it has. The industry just won't permit it.

Thank you for writing and please stay tuned.

I don't know, maybe they can get away with it  because they are so big and powerfull, or they paid the "recording industry" money, again I don't know. Please let me know  if you have looked into this.                                   Again, best regards, Larry

First of all, it is really a shame you had to take all of the music down. It was great while it lasted. I appreciate all of the time and effort you put into posting absolutely fantastic music for all to listen. As a teenager, I feel like it is something special to listen to music from a different era, such as the sixties and seventies. Hopefully, something will be worked out in the future.

Since visiting this site, I have bought numerous CDs and LPs. I always loved that you had various songs by The Beatles, because it gave me a chance to preview music from a certain album before buying it. I have bought Let It Be (LP), Abbey Road (CD and LP), Yellow Submarine (CD [although the CD is the Songtrack] and LP), The Beatles (CD and LP), Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Heart's Club Band (CD and LP), Revolver (CD and LP), and Rubber Soul (CD and LP). As far as vinyl goes, I also have a couple of their earlier American albums.

I have bought a lot of songs on iTunes for my iPod that I heard on Terrific Music. At least thirty songs, but it is probably a lot more.

I hope all goes well in the future and I understand if you cannot reply. I just read your update and I figured that I would write and tell you about any music I had bought because of this wonderful website.

Sincerely,

Elizabeth

Response:

Elizabeth,

Thank you for taking the time to let me know what CDs and other media you've purchased as a result of this website. If I'd only had some verifiable proof of the thousands or, perhaps, millions of songs and/or CDs that were purchased as a result of this website but, unfortunately, that is not the case. Nearly 10 years and no proof. That's okay, live and learn, right?

Again, thanks!

i have bought three or four cds due to the beautiful songs that where on this site. I loved the music and listen to it with my father. i purchased a simon and garfunkle cd, a drifters cd and a few beatles cds as well. the music was great and i am greatly sorry to see the songs pulled off. i had a great time listening to the oldies music at night while i was alone. although i didnt experience the songs first hand i still am greatly moved by them and enjoy the stories told by my father about this great music and the era's they came from. i couldnt find most of the songs anywhere else but here and that is why i loved the site. keep on rockin to these classics and dont let "anyone take away the music... its the only thing we've got"!!

Response:

Paul,

I have to admit, young men and women as well as the boys and girls of today really can appreciate the music of my generation and the generations that preceded me.

Stay tuned and wish me luck.

Comments:

My father had passed all of this music from the Beatles to Fleetwood Mac to me when I was a child. Through the years, I loved it more and more. Every time I listen to this music, it brings a smile to my face and it makes me feel happy whenever I am in a bad mood. The music from today's generation is confusing and hard to understand and I am one of the few from my age that can reject that kind of music. Only the music from the sixties, seventies, eighties, and nineties is all I can relate to. Thank you so much for preserving this music.

Response:

Alexandria,

Though I'm soon to be 51, I agree with all that you said. Your folks raised you well.

Good luck to you and stay tuned.

I was very disappointed about you having to take down the music. I would come to the computer and listen to all of the music that I remember my mom listening to when I was growing up. My children would sit and listen with me and sometimes we would sing loudly with them. I have bought an Air Supply greatest hits because of the memories this site brought back. I am still going to buy many others that I wouldn't have thought of buying if it wasn't for listening to your site. To list a few: John Denver, Debby Boone, and Leo Sayer. I have always had a fantastic time looking for oldies that I had forgotten.

Thanks for the memories.
Laura

Response:

Laura,

I don't know what to think. Should I feel more sorrow for our elders, ourselves, or our children? Many of our elders created this music, we listened and danced to it, and our children may never hear it. Is there no shame?

You're welcome and thanks!

I have been using this site for years to hear old songs. Sorry for the problems you are facing. It is really a sign of the screwed up times that someone would force you to stop doing something that really sells music.

I have purchased approximately one dozen cds as a result of figuring out who sang an old song I found on your site. I have purchased approximately 30 songs on itunes after hearing them and wanting to download them for my ipod.

KEEP UP THE FIGHT! Your site is a great one.

Good Luck to you Gerri.

Tim

Hi Gerri;

I have always had your website bookmarked since I found it. When I visited it today (4/6/07) I noticed the music was no longer available. I feel bad that you had to take the site down. I have bought a few Cds since I started revisiting old music. I bought a couple of Doo-wop videos and a Jackie Wilson, John Denver, Peter Paul and Mary. I am also in search of a Cd of Elvis's old songs. I hope you can return soon as I know that many people await your website. Good luck and I will keep checking now and then.

Regards,
Gil Sequira

Response:

Gil,

I, too, bought a Jackie Wilson video. I'm not a big fan of music videos but I had to have that one.

Good to hear from you and thanks!

Just checking in to see what progress, if any, you have make towards bringing this beautiful music back on line! You had a lot of wonderful songs that I could not find on any other site. Children's music, Classical music, Christmas music, to name a few categories. I have not found any radio stations in the Puget Sound area that play a lot of the music your site featured. Yes, I have a lot of CDs, many of them bought after hearing those oldies but goodies on your site! Your site featured .ram files, which could not be burned onto a CD. All the other sites I have found feature mp3 and msmedia, which CAN be burned onto CDs, so I don't understand why you were targeted! P.S. While visiting your home site, I came across some pictures of a cute kitty named Agile. He is so sweet! How is Agile doing these days? I just love his sweet little face! Thank you for sharing him with us! Good luck in your future endeavors! Hope your music is back up real soon!

Response:

Laura,

Thank you for checking back. It seems like a year has passed since receiving the "notice" but, believe it or not, it's only been 2 months. I wish I could say what's going to happen but that ball's still in the air.

I'm sorry to say that "Agile" passed away on October 28th of 2005. He was a wonderful cat. I trained him to sit, fetch, come, hide, and catch rubber bands. He even had a funny way of howling. He was great with wildlife including birds. I, for a few years, rehabilitated wild birds such as lost or abandoned baby birds of all kinds or sick and injured adults. He would take his left or right paw and very gently stroke the birds in a curious yet compassionate way. He would even let them ride on his back or sit on him when he napped. He had a heart attack on his way to the vet. He died just minutes after reaching the vet's. I could do nothing for him other than to drive fast and brake short. That trip still catches me off guard when I think about it. He was the "best".

Anyway, thank you for letting me know about the CDs you purchased and, please, come back.

At least I found them while living in Arizona 6 years ago!
Then a blessing came about 3 years ago (I believe) and I happened upon your Site!!
I know the work and dedication you put into it. My Son has a Family Web Site. It takes time, dedication and lot's of love if done correctly!! Yours and his is all that!!
I immediately sent a link to all my friends!
Many a night I danced to the 50s songs!! What beautiful memories!!............YES! I went out and bought SEVERAL tapes and Cd's BECAUSE OF YOUR SITE!!! Starting with Stand By Me..Original Motion Picture Soundtrack, The Rock and Roll ERA 1957,1954, and 1959. Also Rock and Roll Jukebox Superstars....and more I can't "Dig up" right at the moment, as there are Several in my car!!........So, what's the problem!! You are giving Free Advertisement!!!

Pam,

I took a look at the two websites you furnished and one of them is, perhaps, gone and the other ought to sleep with one eye open.

I wish I could explain the logic behind the choices of others but, as you know, that's an impossibility.

Thank you for taking the time to tell me about your purchases and I hope to be there when you need me next.

I can't tell you how disappointed i was to find this site taken down.  i have spent several evenings going down memory lane with some of these old songs.  My kids get a kick out of my telling them what was "hot" back in the day.

I can tell you for sure that due to hearing some forgotten songs on this site, I have gone out and purchased CD's so that I could hear them in their pure sounding glory ( no offense, but the .ram file on your site is not a substitute for the pure recording).  I have bought Ronnie Milsap, Barry Manilow and Elvis CD's, solely due to a song on your site bringing back memories of time gone by.

Whoever suggested you shut down is very short sited in that you were doing all the artist a favor by presenting some of these golden oldies in a forum that gave them new life.  Without your site, they now go back into the dark void where they will rarely re-surface thereby guarenteeing that no one will be reminded to go purchase the full CD of their favorite artist.

What a shame.  I will follow this and hope to find you restored in the future.

See, Gerri's right. His site gives you this music. It makes you want to go out there and buy it in better quality. The music folks need to realize that the music on this site was in Real Player. It can't compare to a CD. They have no competition. They are lame.

I really miss the music that I grew up with and the wide variety of music that you had on your web site. It is a travesty and disgusting that they made you remove your outstanding collection. Greed by the music industry makes me not want to buy anymore music. Your web site encouraged me to go out there and buy more music. Good luck brother and thank you for all the memories.

Thank you, Ken.

You're right and I agree but, on the other hand, if there weren't so many other sites out there profiting from this sort of venture then I doubt that I'd have been targeted. This action against me, I believe, is but a statement to all.

As they used to say in older days, catch me on the flip side.
