Elana — Great to meet you after your concert at Winfield!
And, I am learning a TON from your superb instructional video.
And I love the way you honor Johnny Gimble. I've been to his
fiddle camp several times in Taos. He's my hero. Even signed my
5-string fiddle! All the best, Dave

Elana,   my connection to you is tenuous at best.  Whit Smith's pop,  F. Cole, and I were high school buddies at Bayside High School in Queens, NY. in the 1950's.   Our idols were Bob and Ray,  the wry, dry radio comedy team.   A third partner in crime was Joel Goldberg,  now of Yellow Springs Ohio.

Joel sent me a copy of your letter to the NYT about the feds shutting off money to groups performing country and bluegrass music.  A good letter!  Now you are a published author.

F. Cole and I were briefly reunited at the Armadillo Bazaar in Austin about 7 or 8 years ago.  The H.C was playing and,  I think,  you and I shook hands after I explained in great detail how Whit could never have achieved his current celebritiness without my influence on F. Cole.

Good luck    Dan Wilson   (of Austin)

Another WONDERFUL evening listening to and watching you and Jake and Whit at the Casa Amaranta here in Palo Alto. My sincere apologies for getting a little carried away with my enthusiasm.  Didn't mean no harm by that.

Elana, you have a magical way of expressing the meaning of the songs with your face.  Hope you can make some videos someday.  The offer to your band and friends to use my family cabin overlooking Emerald Bay and Lake Tahoe is my way of saying THANKS, HOT CLUB..., for creating such delightful music!!

Sincerely appreciative of the type of music you play!!

Ordinarily my wife and  I would be  excited for Santa Clarita Cowboy Festival ourselves.  Can't make it this year but best of luck to you all and those who attend and we'll try again next year. Weather should be nice and warm. Meanwhile we'll try to catch Hot Club around South Dakota and surrounding states somewhere .

Amazing show last night! If you come back to the Cincinnati area, I will bring a ton of people and it shall be a wonderful dance party!

I won my ticket to the show by correctly answering the trivia question asked by a D.J. on a local radio station. I lucked out and guessed the location of Cowtown. I should have played the lottery yesterday, for what a show! I just wanted to express my thanks for a fantastic night!!!

Hope to see you again soon!

Your music is beautiful. I heard Down the Line on Radio Paradise, and I stopped what I was doing. It was love-at-first listen.

I am hoping to cover two of your songs in clubs over here in Korea.
Down the Line and I Don't Mind.
However, the violinist in my group can't just fiddle by ear. Before imploring her to reverse-engineer the score from the mp3, I thought I'd ask you first: Did you by any chance happen to have scored out your violin parts for those songs? If so, I would love to buy copies from you.

You're probably quite busy and not really into special requests. I totally get it if you disregard this. However, if you do have it to send, after a few months, I'll send you back a YouTube of us covering the songs here in Jeonju, South Korea.

Happy New Year!

Saw your performance Wednesday at Continental club.
You, Mark O'Connor and Josh Goforth are the best I've
ever seen outside of classical violin.
Outstanding. Best OBS I've ever heard.

My wife and I will try to attend more of your concerts.

Hi Elana,

Saw you play as a guest fiddler with the Erik Hokkanen's Laboratory Band on Tuesday night (12/28/2010) at Flipnotics Austin while we were in town for Christmas vacation while visiting with our Austin kids -- WOW, we were blown away by the awesome fiddle breaks and subtle bursts of pefectly-placed accompanyment from your finger tips and bow...  what an artist you are...so strong and confident...!!!  We so much enjoyed the show with you in it.  I couldn't help but express our thanks to you and guest fiddler Warren before we left for making an already great show even hotter ...  it was a pleasure to make your brief acquaintance after the show.

Randy

Just saw you at Swallow Hill in Denver. Couldn't help thinking that during your versions of "'Deed I Do", and "Someone to Watch Over Me" that your vocal phrasing and voice reminded me a bit of Blossom Dearie. I got home and checked out your website to find Blossom listed in your 'links' page. I think she is one of the most under-appreciated jazz vocalists so I'm glad to know that there is a bit of her in you.

I also thought that your treatment of the Waits song "Long Road Home" was magnificent. I've been a fan of Waits since 1975, and have only heard one cover that I liked...and that was about two hours ago! Covering Waits is risky business, so kudos to you for not only having the courage, but for pulling it off ! Hopefully your version will turn up on a future recording.

You and the gents were great, I am a new fan! Thanks for the great vibes (and the autographs)!

Blaine

Hi,

My family and I just saw you at the Lowell Folk Festival (twice).

We really enjoyed your music and I am now a fan!

My young daughters both play violin and I was glad they got a chance to see you and enjoy your music.

I'm now listening to "Wishful Thinking" and "Continental Stomp" and telling my friends how great you are.

Regards

-Gyepi

I was so sorry to miss you all this year in tha UK.  MY girlfriend (Astrid) and I have been addicted to the music of Cowtown for a few years now.  You are quite simply the best live band that I know.  We couldn't get away this year but we love you.  You may remember us as the freaky stalkers from truckfest and larma tree.  All the best to Whit and Jake (and Brigitte!).  Also, please give Bob Dylan a wedgie if you see him.
