Comments: Dear Artie and Simon. Wow you blew my mind last night, what a fantastic concert we had a great time. I thought you were so humble. We were so glad you came to adelaide australia. Please come back before we are all too old. I work in an aged care facility and told every one was a great time it was. Great memories and great songs and music and great band best night ever. Thank uou you are my guiding angels thank you. Loved dearly Nola xxx
Comments: Really thoroughly enjoyed the concert in Melbourne. Wish I could do it again and again...but I will just have to cherish what I experienced. Fantastic website, friendly forum and lots of info. Poem #7 speaks clearest IMO. Don't forget to walk across Australia...we would be happy to show you the way ;)
Comments: DEAREST ART SEE! WE LOVE YOU DOWN HERE IN AUSTRALIA, PLEASE PROMISE US YOU'LL RETURN IN THE NEXT COUPLE OF YEARS.... MY CD'S AND IPOD ARE WEARING OUT... WARMEST REGARDS ELIZABETH
Comments: I have been longing to explain how grateful I am to Artie and Paul for coming so far from home to Brisbane. We were amazed at how wonderful they were together after all these years, and still crazy enough to bare their souls. My only wish would be to have the experience recorded on DVD and be able to relive it from time to time (It was even better than the previous Old Friends concert already on DVD). Failing that we shall just have to preserve our memories. Thank you, Artie and Paul, old friends, for another golden moment in the scrapbook of my life. Thank you for coming so far from home and for the energy and sincerity you both put into your show. I do hope you take some good feelings with you when you are homeward bound - you deserve to; what you give to people cannot be bought anywhere. Warmest Regards.
Comments: Amazing concert on Friday night. Bright Eyes brought tears to my eyes. Beautiful xoxox
Comments: Dear Art, A big thank you to you and Paul for a wonderful night at Rod Laver Arena,25th June. The band was brilliant and you both sang superbly.Bridge Over Troubled Water still makes me choke up inside after all these years. The first record i ever bought was a compilation album back in 1970 of your hits.As far as i can recall it did not have any Bridge songs on it.But soon after i got to here Bridge and it blew me away and still does today. The piano part is pure genius and the way you sang the song is from heaven. The concert the other night was the best i've ever seen and worth every penny.Extremely well laid out and it was good to here songs from both your solo careers, and a little bit of history spoke about as well.As every fan would agree with this comment,PLEASE COME BACK SOON.Australia has its doors wide open for you both and would love to have you back. Best wishes to you both for the rest of your tour and keep well Yours sincerely Richard
Comments: Thank you so much Art for your tribute to Michael Jackson. He was truly a master artist. He will be sorely missed in the industry.
Comments: Art, I just wanted to say thank you so much to you and Paul Simon for coming out to Australia. I had the immense pleasure and privilege of seeing the two of you two nights ago in Melbourne, and you were both absolutely amazing, to say the very least. I'm 20 years old and I grew up with my mother playing your music constantly all through out my childhood. And so even though I wasn't even alive when any of those songs were written they run through my veins and are a part of me in a way I can't even describe. My mother saw you live in concert 25 years ago and I was fortunate enough and lucky enough to be able to take her and my sister to see you again two nights ago, and I got to share that and experience that, and I am so, so grateful for you for offering that gift to your fans. Thank you. - Brigitte
Comments: Thank you so much for coming to Melbourne and sharing yourself with us, Art. At 42, I have been listening to your beautiful recordings all of my life, and it was so wonderful to see and hear you in real space and time. You and Paul have brought so much enjoyment and inspiration into my life - clearly all those other fans felt the same. I never dreamed that I would get an opportunity to hear and see you perform live - it was an absolute gift to me. So again, I want to thank you for coming down-under and giving Aussie fans an opportunity to thank you in person for the pleasure your music has given us over all these years. I hope you felt the love as much as I did. With fondest regards, Jenny [View Entry]
Comments: Finally, the dream of a lifetime became true for me, seeing ART GARFUNKEL AND PAUL SIMON in Melbourne Thursday 25th June. Just wanted to say how wonderful the show was, truly a most magical atmosphere and experience. When Paul sang Bridge over troubled waters with you, my heart was soaring, it was the most amazing sight! My husband and I have had the Ipod going constantly at home and in the car since! Cannot tell you how thankful we are that you finally got back to visiting our shores, and one can only cross fingers that you will manage to get back again. Thankyou, thankyou, thankyou, you may think that we have given you a charmed life, but you both have given us all such cherished memories.
Comments: Thank you for a wonderful concert experience in Sydney on June 23rd. You both looked so relaxed and comfortable on stage, and that made for a brilliant performance. Truly a highlight of my life.
Comments: i remeber listening to my dads records as a kid and i know how much ye music resonated with him and his early life. He went with my mother to yer first concert in auckland and came home and immediatly went on the internet, telling me "you just have to go see these guy's" I did, and i loved every moment
Comments: I attended the concert in Sydney last night 23rd June. I had attended the concert held at the Sydney Cricket Ground in the 1980's and that was simply wonderful. Last night's concert, truly surpassed that memorable occasion. The music was magnificent. Simon and Garfunkel were nothing less than graciously consummate performers. Their wonderfully mellow tones were absolutely superb and their harmonies simply magic. An occasion not to be missed. Thank you Paul and Art for the gift of your music.
Comments: Dear Art, What an amazing experience to finally (after more than 30 years of wishing and hoping) see you perform live last night (24/6) in my new home in Sydney/Australia (you should come here in summer!) with my husband and friends. Our friend and great fan of yours - Greg Short - was missing as he sadly died last year. I hope he had a chance to listen from where ever he now is... Bright Eyes brought me to tears, Heart in New York - just most beautiful... and of course the classics, soundtracks to our life. I hope you are able to feel the enormous joy you continue to bring to the world. I salute and thank you!
Comments: I just wanted to say that i was so impressed with your performance last night in Sydney (23rd). My brother and I were raised as children listening to your music and i think i knew all the lyrics to your songs by the age of about 12! You and Paul are by far my greatest inspiration as musicians and it was an absolute privelage to see you both perform last night in what can only be descibed as an intimate and magical performance. It was a dream of mine to see you both perform live and until i heard you were coming to Australia, i thought i would never get the chance. Your music is one of the only things that makes me forget about the stresses of life and i thank you for the chance to be part of that last night. It would be an absolute pleasure to have you back in Sydney! Thankyou!!! Andrew Klerck
Comments: I came to your concert in Sydney last night (23rd June), and I wanted to thank you so much for giving so much of yourselves in your set. Your harmonies together are wonderful, yet your individual personalities shone through - it was a great privilage to see you both perform live, and what made the night even more special for many of the audience was the intimate party atmosphere of the numerous encores at the close of the evening - I am sure that there were many of us who could have stayed there all night. THANK YOU.
Comments: Saw Simon and Garfunkel on Sunday (21st June) in Sydney. I have been a fan for my whole life... my dad's vinyls are mine! The best duo ever! They were so impressive. I am so pleased that my husband and I were able to hear them sing together! They have fans across all the generations... my husband and I are in our early 30's - and they have been my favourites since I would say their names! Love the mix of solo songs and their famous work. Thank you Art and Paul for a perfect concert. [View Entry]
Comments: Saw Simon and Garfunkel in Concert in Brisbane (Australia). I have been a fan since 1970 my only regret was that my father, also a devoted fan, died before he got to see them live. My 15 YO daughter also a big fan thoroughly enjoyed the concert. Absolute genius both Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel. The backing band was also magic. Art Garfunkel. Gods gift to the world.
Comments: Happy Father's Day! Columbia Records released the "Watermark" vinyl L.P. with "Fingerpaint" in the United States in late 1977, probably manufactured in Santa Maria, California. The record is NOT a promo copy. The jacket has the golden promotional words in the upper left-hand corner. Stay tuned for more information! Sincerely, Jim
Comments: You were amazing. Both you and Paul. But I've always loved your voice, and those haunting tones when you reach the upper register. No one sings as you do. You haven't aged on stage, or so it seems.
Comments: My husband surprised me for my 50th brithday with tickets to see you both - loved it so much and will have brilliant memories. Took my 12 year old daughter, Sarah, who is in awe of what she heard and saw! Thank you, and you truly feel like "Old Friends" Barbara Brisbane
Comments: I also shared the privilage of being in the Brisbane audience of your "Old Friends" fantastic concert. It was a sureal experience to see you there on the stage meters away from where I and my daughter were sitting. Your music has been important to me since the 60's. All my children have danced to your music, and learnt the words of your songs as aparently I played your music very often. My son, now 38, was adept a dancing to Cecilia even though at 3 years old he said "competence" instead of "confidence". Also my 28 year old daughter was thrilled to accompany me to your Brisbane concert, which was easly the best concert I have experienced. Thank you for getting together again and visiting us in Brisbane Australia. I shall pray for another opportunity to see you again.
Comments: I went to your concert in Sydney last night at the Acer Arena - thanks so much for a generous, beautiful concert, I'll cherish the experience always.
Comments: the best concert in brisbane since the last time the boys were here.during a time when popular music is in its dark ages, along come mr garfunkel and mr simon to remind us of what beautiful music is all about.thanks for all the great musical emotions..
Comments: On Wednesday 17th June 2009 in Brisbane, Australia I was privileged to witness something I truly thought I would never see - Simon & Garfunkel live in concert. Unbelievable. I was introduced to your music as a Conservatorium student by a housemate, and would play his cd on repeat, all night while playing computer games! This was in the early-mid 90s. (yes I am early 30s)This many years later, I own most of your LPs (yes I still collect LPs!), cds and dvds; but seeing you perform live was the most amazing musical experience of my life! To hear your voices blend and bounce off each other, play against each other and create those marvellous harmonies which make "Simon & Garfunkel", to hear two people who have experienced so much together and apart, regroup to make this music come alive once again was just beyond my wildest imagination. Congratulations on your achievements and music-making, and know that your music will make people happy forevermore.
Comments: Hi Art; Just to let you know, I recently heard your album, "Everything Waits To Be Noticed" from my local library. What a beautiful piece of work. I was moved to buy the CD for my personal collection. I have your albums "Breakaway" and "Watermark", which I play often at my work, but this new one surpasses those classics. You get better with the passing years my friend. Good luck with all you do and thanks for the fine music.
Comments: Wow.........loved the Brisbane Wednesday concert so much that we went and got tickets for the following night. There were so many highlights - seeing you both perform live after a lifetime of hearing your songs, your individual segments, all the classics, the great backing band ..... what amazing talent all around. Thank - you so much. Thanks also Art for pronouncing the name of our city correctly. You said invite us back ..... make this an official invitation. Please come back to Brisbane.
Comments: I just put on my Paul Simon and Simon/Garfunkel play list. I can not begin to tell everyone how their music moves me. Art Garfunkels vocals move me to tears!! I am almost 40 and these are the songs from my childhood.
Comments: I would just like to say that I have never loved another song so much as Bright Eyes. For years I haved loved it when I first heard in in Watership Down and I am now choosing this song to perform for my GCSE's.I'm pretty sure the examiner will be glad to hear a calmer song to the rest of the rock songs my friends are choosing!I think that song made Watership Down! Comments: HI i am not sure if you will get to read this but i just want to say that myself, husband and three children and son in law attended your Brisbane concert on the 18th June (which by the way was one of my daughters 19th Birthday) My children now 17,19,21 all grew up on a staple diet of Your music. I am writing today to let both you and Simon know how grateful we were to be able to see you guys perform. I am sure your music will now follow my future grandchildren as they journey through life. I couldn't,t think of anything better. Also to each member of your band i am in awe of their many talents. With much gratitude. Deb
Comments: Dear Art, I flew down from Cairns for your Brisbane Old Friends concert & it was everything I'd dreamt it would be - truly wonderful! Thank you so much for coming to our shores. I'll treasure the experience of seeing you live; especially your solo performance - to hear you sing "Perfect Moment" was an added bonus. Enjoy the rest of the tour. Warmest regards, Glenys [View Entry] [View Entry]
Comments: Thanks-you SO much for a life time of wonderful music! I was watching the Maine Public TV tribute to Paul Simon last night, and yet as wonderful as it was to hear all the great songs, it wasn't COMPLETE until you came on stage. Bridge over Troubled Water has always been your song. Thank-you so much for it! So many happy memories... and that happiness continues each time I hear it! [View Entry]
Comments: My husband and I had the good fortune to join you while you entertained New Zealanders at the Sunday, June 14th concert in Auckland. How amazing it was. We were carried away, back in time, from the moment you and Paul Simon came on stage. You have both aged - we have too - but we didn't notice, you are both still absolutely amazing. Your passion and love of what you do shone through and we truly didn't want the evening to end.We could have stayed all night! Your musicians were also a collection of the finest we have witnessed. We hope we were an audience you will remember for years to come; we also hope we can see you perform again. But then as my husband said - it's taken 50 years for him to be able to see you!! Enjoy the rest of your tour and we look forward to hearing more new songs in the coming years - perhaps? May NZ has offered some inspiring thoughts you can turn into meaningful hits...? Bon chance!
Comments: My dear Mr. Garfunkel,-I can only explain it this way.You hit notes that make me cry while I am smiling.A shiver goes up my spine and my heart races and I am entranced. Thank you for that. It's like being allowed to participate in something as close to perfection we humans are allowed to get. Please come to Cleveland Ohio soon. You would love Cain Park in the summer.
Comments: Back to 1979 when I was in the university in China the first western song I was introduced to by my American professor is Bridge Over Troubled Water. When I came to New Zealand in 1989 the first album (cassette)I bought was your one. My partner and I went to your first concert of the world tour in Auckland, New Zealand last night. Thank you for such a wonderful show. Do you know what? The people at the concert not only love your music but you as a human being. Today we spent just about all day (Sunday 14 June)talking about the show while listening to your CD. We feel so so fortunate to see you and Simon performing alive in our life time. My partner told me that he would have gone to your 2nd concert today. I feel the same. We wish you the world tour a success. Thank you for the music. [View Entry] [View Entry] [View Entry]
Comments: Gracias Art. GRACIAS ART. ART, THANKS [View Entry]
Comments: Hello Mr. Garfunkel: I'm watching "Carnal Knowledge" on dvd. It's very good. Why oh why can't they make good movies like this today? I'm contacting you from Nova Scotia, Canada. My warmest regards to you and yours.
Comments: I have been listening to Art as "Simon and Garfunkel" and as a solo artist for forty years now. My father and I would sit for hours and listen to the most incredible voice in music to date, and marvel at the gift of Art's voice. As a musician, songwriter and composer, Art, has my utmost respect as a fellow musician and signer. May you continue, Art, to sing, perform, write and amaze us all as you always have. By the way, Bridge Over Troubled water, as I'm sure you've been told many, many times, is the most incredible recording, and vocal performance in music to date. |
