Then the angel said to them: Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you tidings of great Joy which will be to all people. For there is born to you this day, in the city of David, a Saviour, who is Christ the Lord.

There is 1 day left until the Feast of the Nativity of Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. As the hours count down to His Blessed birth, our lives seem to spiral ever faster in the turmoil and hype of Christmas shopping and running around. Do yourself a favour, and take a few moments to stop and reflect on what this Feast is all about.


Its not how big the present is, or how many we got, or what we had to eat that is important. Whats important is to be able to look upon His birth with the awe and wonderment of a little child, and to be able to realize that the God of all creation humbled himself to our level, became one of us, in order so that we may become like Him.


How do you become Godlike or undergo Theosis( in Greek)? By loving God with all your heart, all your soul and all your mind AND by loving your neighbour like you love yourself! Those are the words that He gave us while He was ..here with us. The key is that simple, yet so many of us walk around and go through our daily lives and just dont get it.


Don't pass the person begging on the street for a quarter and look at him in disdain, for in doing so, you are looking on the Lord in disdain. Don't fight or argue with friends and family or even with enemies, for they are all the Image of God, and in arguing with them and causing them pain, you cause pain to God. "Assuredly I say to you, in as much as you did it to one of the least of these, you did it to Me.
" (Matthew 25:45)


So the next time you are out and running around doing last minute shopping, stop and think. Drop a quarter in a homeless persons outstretched hand, while you think of your warm bed and safe house; put a dollar in the pot as you hear the clanging of that bell, remembering the hot meal and shelter it will help to provide someone who may not remember when he had his last meal. When you see the box for the "Jerry's kids" or the Cancer hope appeal or whatever cause it may be while you stand in line at the grocery cashier; remember all the meals that the Lord has Blessed you with, and put a dollar in so that He can Bless someone elses life, and you will receive blessings from heaven tenfold.


You may never realize them or know them, but they are there and they come from Him, through your imitiation of Him in your actions. How many times has He saved you from harm, sickness or other trauma, and how many more times will He do so for you. "For God so loved the world that he gave His only begotten Son,that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
" (John 3:16)
