Hi Daddy,

Thanks for the information on this wonderful website. It shows that you dedicated your time and energy into giving knowledge to the uninformed and the want-to-learn-more people. I was able to use this website as a reference for my research paper on Belizeans in Los Angeles and how their cultures manage to stay alive in America.

Thank you again

See you soon.

All I have to say is that I was there through the election UDP vs. PUP....in placencia village...how do you feel about it up north?  All I care about is that people remain happy....If I had a million or 2 dollars...I could still ride your boat...long live the UDP!

I worked at the village as a student nurse, back in 1989 when be were in training for community nursing and midwifery. At that time our Nurse.Helen Rosado was the acting RHN, of the village. I remember the beautiful people that.I Had the privileged to work with, the caretaker as we would call her Aunt.Made.Those days were and will always be memorable to my life.

I still have big problems with my kidneys thats why Ihave to stay in that Germany. Maybe someone want to visit us here? Feel free to mail. Anyway thanks. Why dont we hear from Bobbie? The drummer who lives on our former property next to hotel Seine Bight? also called Austin?
God bless you all

Mervin Lambey...Amazing. I was reading the section on fishing techniques. This internet is really changing the way we live. Imagine if my great grandmother was around now. She wouldn't believe it just as she didn't believe it when t.v. first got to Belize. Really interesting.

How did you learn about Seine Bight.Com Google

The site is wonderful. Reading the list of teachers brought back memories, good ones. Seeing my father, Benjamin Ciego named among his peers brought back memories of all the teachers. I remembered many of them growing up. Many are gone, but they are not forgotten. Their contribution to the education of rural Belize must be acknowledged. They brought knowledge and education to places where the conditions were at times difficult, but they preserved to educate in spite of it. In my humble of opinion, the current leadership of Belize owe a debt to those early pioneers because they were willing to endure hardships because they believed in the power of education. After reading the name of many of relatives, I gladly acknowledge my roots - birthplace of great-grandmother.

How did you learn about Seine Bight.Com Found it on Google

Comments:
My name is Cynthia Garcia-Sallis and my father was born in Dangriga or Stan Creek. His name is Oscar Alan Garcia who live in Los Angeles, California.  I was born in Tegucigalpa, Honduras but grew up in the Bannacca Bay Island (Guanaja).  I do not speak Garifuna but I am interested in learning all I can of the culture. Growing up in Honduras, people were not always very kind to people of Garifuna descent. Most of the people that I meet from Belize say that I would be classified as Creole. Can someone explain this to me, as to why?

Anyone that would like to communicate with me about this, please contact me. I live in Atlanta, Georgia. I have one son and he was born on 19 November and my father told me of how special that date is to his people. I am happy to learn more about my culture.

I enjoyed reading Mr. Palacio's essays on the different topics (my son Carlos translated all of them for me).  We are planning a trip to Belize and I was  only familiar with Dangriga and Punta Gorda  now we have another MUST stop whenever we make the trip.  Thank you for educating us non-garifunas and showing us  another beautiful place in Belize.

According to MasterFisherman Balbino Palacio, - Seine Bight village was ideal for fishing but the peninsula was not so ideal for farming hence they found it neccesary to cross the lagoon west to the main land for more fertile farming land. They farmed near-by and went as far inland to where it is now George Town (then called Wahaleaf / California).
