This has been one of the most life-changing books I have ever read. I am a young, African-American woman, married with 4 kids and successful by most standards. I went to a top college, live in a nice golf neighborhood and am active in my church. Though I was growing spiritually, I was missing something emotionally. This book showed me that missing piece. Since I first read it a year ago, I have recovered immensely. Most of all, my children are recovering, I didn't realize I was passing LSE along to them. I made astounding progress in my friendships with other women, after years of being unable to do so. I weathered some serious storms in my marriage, because I had more self-esteem to balance out my thoughts. I am looking forward to starting the workbook and am ordering the book for affirming my children. Tearfully, I say THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!

God bless you Dr. Sorensen! You may have just saved my life. I have been everywhere looking for help, searching for answers, longing for some relief! I have tried prescription meds, self-meds, counselors, doctors, books, you name it, and I've probably tried it.

I recently purchased your books and as I read through the pages, tears streamed down my face as I saw my life clearly before me. Low-self esteem? Unbelievable! I've been an overachiever all my life! I've never considered myself to have low self-esteem.

My mother was abusive, demeaning and distant, but all these years I thought I was coping with all that just fine. Turns out, I was trying to suppress my past hurts and fears but inevitably it kept bubbling back up into my life. I finally feel like maybe I'm on the road to recovery.

Again, thank you and God bless you! I'm sure you have helped many!

I have just run across this website for the first time today. I believe that probably 80% of the people in America suffer from low self esteem. My question is this: Why are there not courses available in our public school systems that address this issue at an earlier point in life? Why should people suffer for years before they stumble across what is really wrong with them. It is usually after they have had several bad relationships, maybe substance abuse and possible suicide attempts that they decide they need help. I truly believe that if we had the right curriculum in our public schools that it would correct a lot of these problems. So many people know that they have problems but do not have the means to seek private therapy. Even if they can afford it, many will not seek therapy because they believe that is for crazy people. I would love to see a class added to our schools and be a requirement. Do you ever think this would be possible. I truly feel we as Americans could all benefit from a class such as this in our schools. I am a mother and just have a passion to see others reach for their full potential.
