Comments from a reader:
I have just finished reading Breaking the Chain of Low Self-Esteem. Two weeks ago my Rabbi told me that you cannot cure yourself until you know you are sick. I think you would call the same thing "awareness". Both the Rabbi and to a greater degree, your book, have not only made me aware, but I was on the path of rehabilitation before I had finished reading Chapter 1. I am 62 years old and have lived in the wilderness of low self esteem. Your book is the harbinger of change. Now I will read it again.

Thank you most sincerely,

David, Hollywood, Florida

I ended up highlighting half the book. I am one of the last people who is inclined to self help, but this book has begun to change my life.

Dr. Sorensen,
I went out and bought your book on Sunday. Whew! Finally, I have a label for the experiences I continue to go through--LSE attacks.
Someone finally has described it exactly as I experience it. My counselor would listen but I don't think she understood exactly how to help...her empathy has helped, but just so much. I'll be in touch...
Thanks,
Paula

I just stumbled on this site and have to say that almost every symptom of this disorder describes me perfectly. It's really quite amazing. I've always known that there was something "wrong" with me, but the usual suspects a.k.a. depression, bipolar, anxiety didn't fit. Great to know that Dr. Sorensen thinks of low self-esteem as an actual disorder rather than the symptom of something larger to fix.

Took the test and got almost a perfect score, minus maybe three questions that I answered no to.

I'm a 22-year-old female who tries to keep up the appearance of having everything together, but I magnify each negative thing that happens to me until I feel like I'm being buried under an avalanche of my own mistakes, failures, and incompetence. Lately, I've even been getting negative about being so negative, and I assure you that feels like an inescapable catch-22, lol.

Anyway, great work here! I'll be looking for these books soon.

Comments:
Hi everyone! I stuggled with LSE all through my life. I was molested by my pastor's son, made fun in elementary school at my buck teeth and four eyes, and I didn't have a father on top of it all. My mother never had enough corage to stick up at for me. She just hid under a shell. So I have a message for all parents or all parents to be for all here to listen to buck up and be strong for your children. They need you! Nothing will get through to them more than a parent who's been through tough times themselves! Stand up for who you are and your beliefs.
