What a great site. I spent 2 hours rolling through ghost towns, route 66, burma shave and Stuckeys. I will be back many times to read more.

Thanks to all the people who made this possible.

How did you find Legends of America? I was looking for a snippet, or anything about what the breastfeeding mothers were eating pre-europeans - Google search

Comments:
It must have all been 'going Ok ' for the babies back then. Nobody seems to have recorded breastfeeding information - not is it usually in drawings. Its the same with Australain Aboriginal culture.
just looking at food items listed - the Blackfoot diet seems pretty good - unless of course there was a bad season.
I am writing a little book (coffee table type) about what grandma and auntie told new mums to eat so they had 'good milk'.
Cheers

How did you find Legends of America? While browsing the web

I enjoy the Legends of America probably more than any thing I see on the computer. I am elderly and cannot travel, so I enjoy your articles so much. I love the old recipes and Indian stories. I wonder if you can print more about the Choctaw Indians ? That is a part of my heritage, but know little about them. I am proud of every drop of Indian blood in my body. When I was growing up, our family didn't talk about our Indian heritage.
Keep up the good work and sometime, print some history of Palo Pinto County, Texas.
Thanks and have a wonderful thanksgiving.

I was told that my grandmother (my dads mom) was part Cherokee Indian. I have been working on ancestry.com to get names of relatives, but there is no way to find out the native American. It would be nice to find out my native American heritage side. If you have any ideas please let me know be e-mail.

Thank you

Hi Dave,

Welcome to the clan. Great to have you on board the wagon trail. Great to see the legends has a tenderfoot (haha). I know you will enjoy the many trips and exploring our great past of the wild west.
Happy trails to you until we meet again (an old saying by one of the greatest cowboys of our times
Roy Rogers and the sons of the pioneers).
