Powhatan County lost one of the finest citizens with the passing of Charlie Green Sr.  He will be remembered as a caring individual who was involved for many years with the PYAA and Dixie Youth programs.  He can never be replaced for his contribution to the children of Powhatan County and the state of VA.  He was liked by all and well known in the Commonwealth for his dedication to youth programs.  His recent involvement as a member of the Board of Supervisors will truly be missed.  We would like to extend our heartfelt condolences to his wife, Jean and his sons, Charlie Jr and Jason.

Deepest Sympathies,
Rick and Jo Ann Gideons

Our prayers are with the Green family - we are so saddened that a family that can give so much, love so freely and serve so well - would have to grief for two such fine men way too early!  If there is any comfort Mrs. Green you should be proud that your husband and son were obviously loved and so respected by so many here in Powhatan county and beyond.  Thank you for sharing them both with us albiet to short of a time.  The Guthrie Family

Charlie exemplified citizenship and leadership ~ loving his family, friends, this county, this country. He will be sorely missed, yet we will all be standing on his shoulders because of his vision and his work. In that regard, he will continue to live on. May the Grace of God be with the Green family.

Charlie was always so gracious to me. We were just getting to know each other, but his reputation preceded him. He was a great man, a dedicated husband and father, and an exemplary leader. He served us all well, and we'll miss him.

The prayers of many are being spoken this very minute and for the days and weeks to come for his wife and his family. And as a pastor, I understand how hard it is to lose someone as pivotal, influential and servant-minded as Charlie. So, we will pray for Red Lane Church, too, as they also adjust to life without him.

Jean,
We are so sorry to hear about Charlie passing away. He was a great man and individual who will be dearly missed by us all. He especially did so much for the youth of Powhatan county. It was truly a blessing to see Charlie's vision come true with the opening of the new baseball facility.

Charlie was a humble, honset and loving man to all of Powhatan and to everyone where ever he went.  He has touched so many people in his life and he touched our family in a special way. He touched our family through the VA Army National Guard, PYAA, as a Powhatan Supervisor and as a good friend. He and Jean were always a shining example of true friendship to us.  Charlie and his smile will be missed by many, many people.

I was just able to get to know Charlie Green this past year as a member of the Parks & Recreation Council, of which Charlie was one of vital organizers.  I was inspired by his passion, determination and belief in this important program.  I am sure that Charlie approached all ares of his life and work with passion and energy!  We will miss him dearly.  This is a great loss for his family/friends and our community.
