Hi Julia and Family

I was just looking up one of my husbands relatives on the internet. Her name was Josephine. I stumbled onto your adoption website and found my poem (Kisses in the Wind) that I wrote for our son while we were waiting to complete his adoption. It always touches my heart to see how many people use this poem. And it makes me happy when children finally make it home. Our son is now 20 years old but I remember well the feelings I had as we waited and wondered how he was doing. I wish you and your new family all the best, Julia.

Warm Regards

Pam Durkota

Julia – It’s been almost one year since we first met you in Changsha, China on February 22, 2010.  You were scared but brave to have met us three for the first time.  I still remember exactly how our first moment together happened – as soon as we got off the elevator in the administrative building approximately after 3:00 PM – we walked to the right toward the waiting room ahead of us, and, there you were!  Your two nannies and the director of your orphanage were waiting with you.  As we approached you, your mother mouthed these words, “she’s beautiful”, to me.  Your mother was absolutely right!  Your new name, Julia, was the perfect one for you.  At that moment, Emma became your sister.  Immediately, Emma was so good with you, teased you with your gray cat, and played with your pink blanket.    You were no so keen with us yet, though.  You were cautiously watching us and looking at the family pictures that we had previously sent you in our two care packages.  That moment – you became our daughter and sister.  Even though you were subdued, you played with Emma with a smile and you two were running around the conference table while we signed off paperwork.  I still remember the ride from the administrative building back to our hotel with you in Mom’s arms, feeding you, playing games with you, figuring out the stroller, running around in the hallway with your sister, and falling asleep in our arms and in the crib in our room.   From that moment on, we promise to raise you the best way we know how.  We love you dearly, Julia!

Love always,

Dad

Julia - it is hard to believe you have been with us for nearly one year!  You have so enriched our lives -we love you very, very much....your growth has been nothing short of amazing - you are a very bright little girl who has MUCH to give, the biggest one being LOVE.  You are extremely affectionate and love to snuggle with your mommy, daddy, big sister Emma and Casey.  You and Emma are perfect for each other and love each other very much not only as sisters, but as friends who have an unspeakable bond that will carry you through life.

I love you very, very much and am proud to call you my sweet, darling daughter!

Love, Mommy

Dear Kane Family,

So glad to know you are back home safe and sound. Congratulations on your new addition to the family. I really enjoyed travel log you sent on a daily basis. Sounds like you had a great time in China and I got the impression that it was easier this time since you been there before.

I can imagine how excited Emma is to have a new sister and how excited Julia is to have a big sister who will watch over her and protect her as well. Of course, you can expect days when they will not always get along with one another.

Do take care and Happy Lent and Easter to you.

Love,
Larry
