I am the daughter of SSGT George John Belancin who was KIA on Sept. 3, 1968. I have been in contact with Mike McFerrin previously regarding info on my father. I am still a little lost on some things. I was told he came from another company or division and still cant find him on a roster other than Mike CO. He is on the fallen list but not on the original list. Let me know is any one has info on this or has served with him. Thank you very much. Lori Schmitt

Comments: My name is Joe Hill. I served with India Company from September 1966 to October 1967. I came over with 3rd Bn. 26th Marines but I was transfferred to India Company in Chu Lai where they were rebuilding after Operation Hastings. I remember we went on a truck convoy from Chu Lai to Danang where we were ambushed on Good Friday 1967. I took part on Operations Union I ,Union II, Pike, and Cochise. I was wounded (my second Purple Heart) on Cochise in August 1967 and was in the Danang Naval Hospital until late September. I rejoined the company after Operation Swift. I was with Doc Ed (Drohosky) when he was killed on Union II.
Comments: I was with blt3/5 from the start in calif in 3/66. I was a scout observer with F 2/11. I was with 3/5 through everything from Deckhouse and Hastings till may of 67. I was always with the company cp group and performed many patrols with every co in the battalion once we were in ChuLai. before that I can't seem to remember the details of that night on 362 real clearly. I hope to find out about the reunion in june and attend as I live pretty close in Fl. I hardly ever wore my helmet in the field with you guys and always wore my utility cover for which I was always being chewed out for. That at the fact I had longer hair that hung out of my hat lol. If you recognise my name or just remember me as a supreme ball buster drop me a line Former Sgt Albert Larsen (Arty) call sign connive 62

Comments: My nephew was Thomas W. Steele, and was the Radio Man shot beside Lieut. Joseph Walters, Mike Co 1968. Just found these web pages, and letters written by Mike McFerrin. I am interested in locating Lieut Joseph Walters, if still living. My brother, Thomas's Father, William Steele, is 81 and not in good health. He has always wondered the details of that day "Tommy" was killed. Tommy was William and Mary Steele's only child. With Tommy gone , and "Bill",s poor health, I am his caretaker and have been for 5 years. I know many years have passed. We moved "Tommy's" body to Pennsylvania from Colorado, to be near his mother's grave. It would be good to hear from someone, who knows how to contact Lieut Joe Walters, if still living, or Mike McFerrin, author of the letters. I appreciate the details, taken from his memorys and putting down for the rest of us to read. The details he has put into the action, is as if we were there, minute by minute. Thank you Mike McFerrin, and Thank You Lieut Joe Walters for the kind comments about "Tommy" listed under Thomas pictures, that you took. You really knew "Tommy" as we did in his short 19 years. He wanted to serve in the Marines and did it proudly. Please refer to my E Mail address for any replys, cliff.peg@groundhog.net

Comments: Looking for information on PFC James Arthur Cooper, Lima 3/5, KIA on 19 Dec. 1969 by a booby trap 2 1/2 miles NE of An Hoa. Doing an article on him for the local paper. He only got 4 sentences in the local paper back in '69 when he was killed. Think he ought to have gotten more than 4 sentences & looking to remedy it. He arrived in country 5 Aug. 69 & was WIA on 11 Nov. 69 by a booby trapped M-26 grenade 5 miles SE of An Hoa. He was hospitalized from 11 Nov. 69 until 25 Nov. 69, when he returned to duty with Lima 3/5. If anyone remembers this young Marine & can provide any further info., it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. JoDee Gibson

Comments: My high school buddy was John D. Ossmen, KIA RVN. I remember John as a fine young man who wanted nothing more than to serve his nation as a Marine. His favorite song was Cara Mia by Jay and the Americans and I never fail to think of John whenever I hear this song. I believe that as long as someone lives in your heart they never really die. Semper Fi John.
