I have had (4) goldens in the last 30 years my 1st was Flavia she came to me when she was 18 month's old i saw an add in the paper free Golden to good home. What I did not know was she would present me with 8 puppies very soon. Flavia lived for 11 more years she went every where with me when ever the truck was started she was supposed to be in it. Flavia was with me through a very rough time in my life and she died shortly after I remarried, its like she knew that I would have somebody to take care of me and I know she will be waiting for me on the other side when it is my time.
Then came Misty she grew up with my son and when she was 3 years old she gave us Beauregard he grew up with my daugther. They have now both gone to join Flavia and I know that many years from now when my son and daughter go to the other side they will be waiting. But I have a very special place in my heart for Flavia she is buried there forever and even though I have other dogs she Will always know she is the best and my first golden.

My golden was born in June 1985, and came home just in time for the birth of my now 21 year old son in September 1985. His papers listed his name as Harley Davidson (so named by my now late husband because he was a biker) but he was just called Harley. Harley was trained from 5 months old to be a duck hunter by my late husband (another of his passions), but Harley was also a great companion to our son, and definitely a "mommy's boy". My husband was killed in March 1990 in a train wreck, and Harley left us (heart attack according to his lifelong vet) in the spring of 1997.....he was almost 12 years old when we lost him (my husband was 30). My son and I still miss our Harley very much but as my son says, he's enjoying many happy hours hunting with his father up in Heaven.

I sometimes feel that I am suffering the consequences of an ages-old family curse ("You will have a daughter who will love animals, particularly furry ones, and she shall be so allergic to them, she'll never be able to own one without sneezing her head off.") Nevertheless, I adore animals--they are so much more sensible than humans--and live with vicariously with them thru such venues as "Animal Planet"

It is wonderful to know that I am not the only one that is totally and completly in love with their Goldens. Kelsey and Riley are not only fun, loving, and loyal, they are SMART. They know and do things that totally blow my bind. They pull heart strings I never knew existed!
