Who is your earliest TN (Henderson) ancestor? Samuel Henderson b. 17 Mar. 1700 Hanover Co VA

In what TN counties are you researching? Madison

How did you find this site? Rootsweb - back in 2001

Comments:
My direct Henderson ancestor was Jane, b. 1787 in Rockingham Co NC, dau. of Thomas Henderson and Jane Martin of that county. Jane's Father Thomas, was the son of Samuel Henderson b 1700 and Elizabeth Williams.
Jane Henderson married William Kendrick, originally from York,SC. He was in Madison Co. TN by 1830.There are disrepancies in marriage date and place of marriage in data I've found to date. Jane's brother,Thomas, arrived in Madison Co. TN ca.1820s so it is possible she arrived with his family, though unlikely. It is more probable that Jane Henderson and Will Kendrick married in the Carolinas migrating to TN together, although no records found to date indicate either possibility.
They had 12 children, my direct ancestor was James A. Kendrick b. 8 Nov. 1821/, son of Jane Henderson Kendrick.
A Samuel Henderson of Mecklenbg. CO NC was named in a power of atty. filed by Wm. Kendrick in the court records of Madison County TN. Wm. Kendrick was asking Samuel Henderson to look into the settlement of the estates of W. Kendrick's parents. source:Will Book D, Mecklenburg Co., NC ,Wills; Will of John Kendrick,#374,p.147: 18 Sept 1823,prb.Nov.1823 Court; Ralph B. & Herman W. Ferguson compilers of court abstracts.
I haven't found any record of the connection between the Sam'l Henderson in Mecklenburg Co NC and Jane's Henderson family in Rockingham CO NC s yet. Anyone knowing of such proof of connection please contact me at nancynoel13@gmail.com

I am looking for someone to help me identify photos and documents related to William Hendrick Henderson.

My Mother passed away 2 years ago, and I volunteered to take care of all family history and photos. There were boxes in her basement that she transported from my grandmother's basement. I didn't realize there was so much information. There is a tremendous amount related to Hendersons. My Great Grandmother was Sarah Murphy Henderson, and I think she might have ended up with all of this information because she was the youngest daughter of William P. Henderson.

I have a Bible that must have been William H. Henderson's. It has documentation of William P. Henderson, siblings, and children.

I have numerous unidentified photos. One Family photo is taken in Atlantic, Iowa. There are "Tin Type" photos of distinguished-looking men, which appear to be from the early 1800's. There are photos of women who appear to have some Native American characteristics. I have a photo album with numerous photos, and it appears to be the same vintage as the Bible.

I also have copies of letters written between Abraham Linclon and William Henderson.

I would like to connect with Pricilla Reinowski who wrote the information about William H. Henderson on the Home Page of this website. I tried the email listed for her, but it bounced back.

I would appreciate to hear from anyone who can help me identify these old photographs.

Sincerely,

Virgina Stevens

Who is your earliest TN (Henderson) ancestor? Dr. William Lafayette Henderson

In what TN counties are you researching? ?

How did you find this site? web search

Comments:
My great grandfather was Dr. William Lafayette Henderson from Lucy, Tennessee. He was married to a Dorsey (Agnes, I believe). I have just found many original documents from his enlistment in the Civil War packed in an old trunk. Among these documents are: a pay roster for hospital personnel at Camp Greenleaf, Chichamauga Park, Ga., a replacement roster (Medical Officer Training Group) - also in GA., as well as W.L. Henderson's enlistment orders, and various other war-related correspondence and wires.

Please tell me what I might do with this information and how can I protect these original documents?

Thank you,

Leticia Slabaugh

Love your site. I just started searching for ancestors and am new to the process. Found some really old, old pictures of relatives that I have no idea who they are. My grandmothers maiden name was Anna Belle Henderson, Chattanooga, TN and she had a twin Sam Henderson, Jasper, TN. Their father was Samuel Henderson and I'm sure he lived in Bradley County, TN. Any help would be appreciated.

Who is your earliest TN (Henderson) ancestor? ? Henderson's of Henderson Plantation, TN

How did you find this site? online

Comments:
Where to start? Well, I am 32, both my parents have passed, IM married and have children of my own. Sadly, I did'nt take the time to really listen to my grandmother on my father's side of the family more than to just know that we are decendents of the Hendersons who had the Henderson Plantation. I can trace things back as far as my great grand mother on my father's side, then it gets a little fuzzy. My father's name was Dean Benton Lewis Jr. (b 1929 d.2001)y father was born in WA. His parent's were Dean Benton Lewis Sr., and Hazel Elizabeth (Fugitt) Lewis both grandparents were born between 1905 and 1910. My grandmother was born in AR. My grandmother's parents names were Issac and Martha Fugitt(born about 1872), they went by Monroe and Mattie. I do not know Matties maden name, and this is where things get fuzzy on me. I know that either Mattie's mother or grandmother was Ann or Jane Henderson. I know this sounds really dumb of me, but one is my grandfather's grandmother and one is my grandmother's..sadly I can't remember which was which name. So if ANYONE could help me fill in the past I would be forever greatful. I know i did'nt give you much to work with, but it's all I have. Heck maybe I help to fill in some of the more recent decendents for someone else.
