Welcome to the

Alan Rickman Download Haven

Guest Book

The purpose of the Alan Rickman Download Haven Guest Book is for group discussion of Alan Rickman’s projects (old and new), news, information, and pictures.  Also welcome are questions, sightings, and reviews.

Our community is made up of many long-time members, and is continually joined by new AR fans.   As a new poster, you may want to browse our archives or lurk for a short while so you get a feel for our community.  We don’t have a lot of rules, but we do expect everyone to respect each other and to respect Alan Rickman.

When posting information or pictures you've found from other sources, please try to include credit for the hard working source that provided it.   Sometimes it may be impossible to remember where you found something and that is OK too because 9 times out of 10 another member will remember and post the information a little later.

AR fandom sometimes suffers from what our group has fondly come to call “AR Drought”.  Its these times, we find solace by digging deep into our AR archives and posting an old piccie  (or two) and/or an old interview.  These always seem to generate good fun discussion and often brings back some wonderful memories for some of our members.

When you want to post thoughts about one of AR’s films, you might want to consider using a flag such as *SPOILER* before you write your thoughts just in case someone hasn’t seen the film and doesn’t want to know about it ahead of time.   The Harry Potter phenomenon is so huge, it has its very own place.  Please find the link to our HP Spoilers Forum below.  You’ll find lots of good discussion about plots and theories in the realm of Harry Potter.

In addition, what’s a good friendship without some place to get as silly and squeely as humanly possible ?    Goodness knows AR gives us a lot to Squeeee about!  Our Alan Rickman Download Haven Discussion Party fits the bill for that particular part of our personality.  It’s a rip roaring party and there’s a lot of laughs and good times to be had by all.  We talk about anything and everything over there and would love to see your participation.
Finally, our Alan Rickman Download Haven Live Chat Room is a place to shoot the breeze with other AR fans in realtime.  Pop in any time and you never know who you will run into or what the topic of discussion might be.  It’s a great way for our members to get to know each other a little better, and to continue conversations not specific to the main ‘on topic’ board in as much detail as they’d like.  Lots of  AR-admiration goes on and laughs are had in the chat room!

There is a fantastic group of Alan Rickman fans from all over the world represented here and each person adds to the fun in their very own way.

Lurking is welcome but we would love for you to post your comments when you feel comfortable.

The most important thing to keep in mind is......HAVE FUN!

If you have any problems posting,
please don't hesitate to email one of us

I really don't like that "altered" photo on Fatimah Namdar's site--the eyes are all wrong and it doesn't look like Alan.  In fact, it looks like a photo of someone who resembles Alan.  Very weird.  Wonder why the photographer felt that was necessary?  Much prefer the version on the BAM website.

Vera: Wow. That lovely crease between his eyes is completely gone. You're right, it must be heavily photoshopped.

Comments:
Vera, if you subscribe (buy tickets) to the whole spring season (or at least 4 of the productions) you can get tickets for the Alan's talk for $10.  If you are a Friend of the BAM (i.e. contribute extra money) and subscribe to the season, you can get tickets for Alan's talk for $5.

At least that is the way I read it.

So the $10 and $5 refer to some kind of subscription? That's very misleading.

Anyway, fantastic photo, indeed. That short haircut looks good.

I just tried to unpack the 3rd archive from Blind Corner too, and got the same diagnostic message for CD6, Track 2. The 'Repair Archive' funktion doesn't work either.

Let's hope Claudia can find a few spare time to provide us with a replacement.

Hugs.

Good morning.

Did anybody try to extract the Blind Corner zip-file no. 3? I get an error message regarding the second track of CD 6. The check of CRC (whatever this is) doesn't pass.

So has anybody the track 2 already extracted?

Now, this brief review on NS is a bit too harsh, don't you think

Not flagrant enough to be vile, not original enough to be any good, this discombobulated crime thriller, with its plot about the kidnapped son (Bryan Greenberg) of a brand new Nobel Prize winner (Alan Rickman, at his worst), makes you a little nostalgic for the late 1990s and early 2000s when these scuzzy little movies were in vogue.

Hi, I haven't been here in a while! What a lot of goodies to read and catch up on tonight. I just wanted to let everyone know that has a chance that lives near Massachusetts (or you can visit via internet) the Museum of Science Boston, MA
http://www.mos.org  that the Harry Potter exhibit is coming this weekend and will be there through February 2010! It features some of the actual costumes, props, etc. from all the movies. Wonder if they will have a Snape model??? Wouldnt that be something to see!!! Not sure if any of the stars are intending to be there or not on the opening this weekend. I plan on going back to their website shortly to check it out.
Anyway, it looks like fun and wanted to share with you all. Have a nice weekend and nice to see all the familiar names here. I feel like I come back to family when I am away for so long..

Alan at the Royal Court Theatre on 15th November!

A celebration of Sir John Mortimer’s Life and Works
The Royal Court Theatre will celebrate the life of its late Chairman and President Sir John Mortimer CBE QC with an evening of readings, performances and music by some of British theatre’s biggest names in the Jerwood Theatre Downstairs, followed by a post-show reception in the Royal Court Café Bar. All proceeds will go towards the Royal Court Theatre’s Writers Development Fund.
Sir John Mortimer, who died in January 2009, was Chairman of the Royal Court Theatre from 1990 until 2000, overseeing its major redevelopment programme in the mid-Nineties, and President from 2000 until his passing. As well as a hugely successful career as a QC, he was an acclaimed novelist, playwright and anti-censorship campaigner.
Dominic Cooke, Artistic Director of the Royal Court, said of Sir John:
“We miss him terribly. As one of Britain's most eloquent, and successful, champions of free speech and campaigners against censorship, he was a peerless role model to us all. His loss is felt deeply by anyone who met him, or who experienced his love of theatre, his passion for justice, or his incomparable zest for life."
Curator Stephen Jeffreys

Director Nina Raine

Hosted by Richard Wilson OBE
Music by Jon Lord

Cast includes Sinead Cusack, Joanna David, Edward Fox, Jeremy Irons, Richard Johnson, Emily Mortimer, Alessandro Nivola, Alan Rickman, Harriet Walter and Dominic West. (subject to availability)

Do you suppose Alan will attend this event to see his friend Ruby?

Quote:
Ruby Wax is the latest big name to be added to the star-studded line up for this winter's Wimbledon panto Aladdin. A global media storm has centred on the New Wimbledon Theatre since last week’s announcement, which confirmed Pamela Anderson, Paul O’Grady and actor Brian Blessed are in the cast. And tickets have nearly sold out as a result.

I just had a bottle of the 2005 Chateau Montelena Cab Sav ( right form the winery i bought it ) and it was in my opinion really worth the money. It was rich, bold and very tastfull. It left numerous legs in the glass and i did drink it from the stem. I also had about a week ago the Chateau Montelena 2007 Chardonnay wich i also thnk was the best Chardonnay ii ever had. If anyone has a chance to get these ( i dont no more, awww) then get them and drink them,,,,beautifull wines.

Sue, somehow astonishing for a man of 63 :-))).

Good review of BS - I totally agree, lol

Love, the eternal rivalry between USA and France…and overall many litres of good wine in this movie based on true events!

As a good Spaniard, I am quite a follower of the wine culture, not an expert, but from time to time I enjoy a bottle of good red wine. So obviously, the plot of this Bottle Shock was promising, with those amazing views of sunny vineyards around California. But the taste that the movie left in my mouth was not graceful at all. Big names and great actors like Alan Rickman or Bill Pullman seem to be wasted in the movie (especially Rickman who does not count with as many minutes on screen as he deserves). The story is more focused around the young friends Gustavo and Bo, and the irruption in their lives of Sam, a sexy female new worker studying the secrets of making wine as intern. But even the love story is twisted. Why the twist in the story, leaving Gustavo? It looks like the old prejudices of Hollywood for presenting multiracial couples are still far from gone.

In the end, you do not learn much about making wine, neither have you felt identified with the characters, and the result is predictable. A pity, because it could have been shaped into a much more interesting movie with a bit more of imagination and better direction.

Thanks for this site..I am truly madly deeply enamored of Alan Rickman, as Snape, in Sense and Sensibilty, in anything. He has a droll sense of humor, an amazing voice, and brings life to each character he portrays. I am as old as he, so my grandkids like to say I am an old geek, gamer, nerd..I am and proudly so...He is a very talented actor and a truly funny guy. In the clip at the Bruce Willis honors, he Is A Stand Up Comic..he could start another phase of his career if he wanted to..
Anyway, thanks.
