Welcome to the

Alan Rickman Download Haven

Guest Book

The purpose of the Alan Rickman Download Haven Guest Book is for group discussion of Alan Rickman’s projects (old and new), news, information, and pictures.  Also welcome are questions, sightings, and reviews.

Our community is made up of many long-time members, and is continually joined by new AR fans.   As a new poster, you may want to browse our archives or lurk for a short while so you get a feel for our community.  We don’t have a lot of rules, but we do expect everyone to respect each other and to respect Alan Rickman.

When posting information or pictures you've found from other sources, please try to include credit for the hard working source that provided it.   Sometimes it may be impossible to remember where you found something and that is OK too because 9 times out of 10 another member will remember and post the information a little later.

AR fandom sometimes suffers from what our group has fondly come to call “AR Drought”.  Its these times, we find solace by digging deep into our AR archives and posting an old piccie  (or two) and/or an old interview.  These always seem to generate good fun discussion and often brings back some wonderful memories for some of our members.

When you want to post thoughts about one of AR’s films, you might want to consider using a flag such as *SPOILER* before you write your thoughts just in case someone hasn’t seen the film and doesn’t want to know about it ahead of time.   The Harry Potter phenomenon is so huge, it has its very own place.  Please find the link to our HP Spoilers Forum below.  You’ll find lots of good discussion about plots and theories in the realm of Harry Potter.

In addition, what’s a good friendship without some place to get as silly and squeely as humanly possible ?    Goodness knows AR gives us a lot to Squeeee about!  Our Alan Rickman Download Haven Discussion Party fits the bill for that particular part of our personality.  It’s a rip roaring party and there’s a lot of laughs and good times to be had by all.  We talk about anything and everything over there and would love to see your participation.
Finally, our Alan Rickman Download Haven Live Chat Room is a place to shoot the breeze with other AR fans in realtime.  Pop in any time and you never know who you will run into or what the topic of discussion might be.  It’s a great way for our members to get to know each other a little better, and to continue conversations not specific to the main ‘on topic’ board in as much detail as they’d like.  Lots of  AR-admiration goes on and laughs are had in the chat room!

There is a fantastic group of Alan Rickman fans from all over the world represented here and each person adds to the fun in their very own way.

Lurking is welcome but we would love for you to post your comments when you feel comfortable.

The most important thing to keep in mind is......HAVE FUN!

If you have any problems posting,
please don't hesitate to email one of us

Posts deleted. There is more than one Alan Rickman in the world and that one (as has been pointed out more than once) lives in Winchester and is a housing chairman as opposed to "our" one who is an actor and lives in London.

Irons, Rickman and More Set for
JOHN MORTIMER AT THE COURT...AND LATER AT THE BAR

Full casting has been announced for the Royal Court's John Mortimer AT THE COURT...AND LATER AT THE BAR. The cast will include Broadway stars Jeremy Irons, Alan Rickman, and Harriet Walter. Further casting includes Sinead Cusack, Joanna David, EdWard Fox, Tom Hollander
, Richard Johnson, Emily Mortimer, Alessandro Nivola, and Dominic West. The evening will be curated by Stephen Jeffreys and Nina Raine will direct. The evening will take place November 15th.Tickets will be £125 each, with proceeds going to The Royal Court Theatre's Writers Development Fund.

Sir John Mortimer, who died in January 2009, was Chairman of The Royal Court Theatre from 1990 until 2000, overseeing its major redevelopment programme in the mid-Nineties, and President from 2000 until his passing. As well as a hugely successful career as a QC, he was an acclaimed novelist, playwright and anti-censorship campaigner.

Dominic Cooke, Artistic Director of the Royal Court, said of Sir John: "As one of Britain's most eloquent, and successful, champions of free speech and campaigners against censorship, he was a peerless role model to us all. His loss is felt deeply by anyone who met him, or who experienced his love of theatre, his passion for justice, or his incomparable zest for life."

Rickman worked extensively with various British repertory and experimental theatre groups on productions including The Seagull and Snoo Wilson's The Grass Widow at The Royal Court Theatre, and has appeared three times at the Edinburgh International Festival. In 1978, he played with the Court Drama Group, performing in several plays, most notably Romeo And Juliet and A View from the Bridge. While working with the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) he starred in, among other things, As You Like It. He was the male lead in the 1985 Royal Shakespeare Company production of Les Liaisons Dangereuses, directed by Christopher Hampton, which was a sellout.[6] When the show went across the Atlantic in 1986, Rickman went on with it to Broadway and there earned a Tony Award nomination for his performance. Rickman has performed on stage in Noel Coward's romantic comedy Private Lives, which transferred to Broadway after its successful run in London at the Albery Theatre and ended in September 2002. Rickman had reunited with his Les Liaisons Dangereuses co-star Lindsay Duncan, and director Howard Davies for this Tony Award-winning production. Rickman directed the play My Name Is Rachel Corrie in April 2005 at The Royal Court Theatre, London, and won the Theatre Goers' Choice Awards for best director.

Jeremy Irons is currently starring in Broadway's Impressionism, a new play by Michael Jacobs, directed by Jack O'Brien. Trained at Bristol Old Vic. London Theatre: Godspell, Rear Column, Embers. RSC: Wild Oats, Winter's Tale, Richard 11, The Rover. National Theatre: Never So Good. NY: The Real Thing (Tony, Drama League Awards), A Little Night Music. Film includes: Dead Ringers (NY Critics Best Actor), Reversal of Fortune (Academy, Golden Globe Awards), Betrayal, French Lieutenant's Woman, Moonlighting, Mission, Kafka, Waterland, Damage, M.Butterfly, The Lion King (voice of Scar), Diehard with a Vengeance, Stealing Beauty, Lolita, Man in the Iron Mask, Eragon, Merchant of Venice, Being Julia, Casanova, Kingdom of Heaven, Appaloosa. TV: "Langrishe Go Down," "Brideshead Revisited," "Tales from Hollywood," "Longitude," "Elizabeth" (Emmy, Globe, SAG Awards). Directed Mirad a Boy from Bosnia. Other Awards: European Film Academy, Cezar, Officier des Artes et Lettres.

Stephen Jeffreys' plays for the Royal Court include The Libertine and I Just Stopped By To See The Man. His other work for the stage includes Lost Land (Steppenwolf), The Clink (Paines Plough/Riverside), A Going Concern (Hampstead) and A Jovial Crew (RSC). He was previously Literary Associate at the Royal Court, and is currently a member of the Royal Court's governing Council.

Nina Raine's previous directing credits include Shades (Royal Court), Behind the Image (Royal Court - Rough Cut), Unprotected (Liverpool Everyman / Traverse), for which she won the TMA award for Best Director, Vermillion Dream (Salisbury Playhouse) and Eskimo Sisters (Southwark). She made her playwriting debut with Rabbit (Old Red Lion / West End), which she also directed, and which won the 2006 Evening Standard Award and the 2006 Critics' Circle Award for Most Promising Playwright.

I really don't like that "altered" photo on Fatimah Namdar's site--the eyes are all wrong and it doesn't look like Alan.  In fact, it looks like a photo of someone who resembles Alan.  Very weird.  Wonder why the photographer felt that was necessary?  Much prefer the version on the BAM website.

Vera, if you subscribe (buy tickets) to the whole spring season (or at least 4 of the productions) you can get tickets for the Alan's talk for $10.  If you are a Friend of the BAM (i.e. contribute extra money) and subscribe to the season, you can get tickets for Alan's talk for $5.

At least that is the way I read it.

Now, this brief review on NS is a bit too harsh, don't you think

Not flagrant enough to be vile, not original enough to be any good, this discombobulated crime thriller, with its plot about the kidnapped son (Bryan Greenberg) of a brand new Nobel Prize winner (Alan Rickman, at his worst), makes you a little nostalgic for the late 1990s and early 2000s when these scuzzy little movies were in vogue.

Wonder if they will have a Snape model??? Wouldnt that be something to see!!! Not sure if any of the stars are intending to be there or not on the opening this weekend. I plan on going back to their website shortly to check it out.
Anyway, it looks like fun and wanted to share with you all. Have a nice weekend and nice to see all the familiar names here. I feel like I come back to family when I am away for so long..

Alan at the Royal Court Theatre on 15th November!

A celebration of Sir John Mortimer’s Life and Works
The Royal Court Theatre will celebrate the life of its late Chairman and President Sir John Mortimer CBE QC with an evening of readings, performances and music by some of British theatre’s biggest names in the Jerwood Theatre Downstairs, followed by a post-show reception in the Royal Court Café Bar. “We miss him terribly. As one of Britain's most eloquent, and successful, champions of free speech and campaigners against censorship, he was a peerless role model to us all. His loss is felt deeply by anyone who met him, or who experienced his love of theatre, his passion for justice, or his incomparable zest for life."
