Comments: JOHN SMITH: Thank you for that amazing video of the Gorillas. I am still struck dumb . How that man just sat there..(and a good thing he did) I will never know. I would have left screaming..no doubt with the whole family chasing me down. Incredible to say the least.
Comments: UK is expensive enough I can imagine prices go through the roof this year. We are keeping away this year.
Comments: A whisky costing £100,000 a bottle has been released to mark the 60th anniversary of the Queen's accession to the throne. Only 60 bottles of Diamond Jubilee will be released by John Walker and Sons. It was bottled at Royal Lochnagar Distillery, which is owned by Diageo, on the edge of the Queen's Balmoral Estate. Each bottle comes in a hand-crafted decanter finished in casks made of oak from Sandringham. Sales are being donated to the Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust. The Queen's 60 years as monarch are set to be marked by a series of regional, national and international events during 2012, culminating in a four-day long UK Bank Holiday weekend in June.
Comments: WOW - What an amazing experience
Comments: I think you will like this link, an encounter one gentleman will never forget, a real jaw dropper. http://www.youtube.com/v/1eXS0o6r-Wk%26rel%3d0%26hl%3den_US%26feature%3dplayer_embedded%26version%3d3 Regards John
Comments: Eric. Thanks for the signature. Everything they have tried in the past has failed but to me this attempt is the most promising, even so I will not be holding my breath, these things take time. When the Conservatives & Lib Dems were in opposition they had a lot to say supporting the last few attempts and are now being held accountable and it is surprising what a very slim majority can do to make a politician listen and act. Regards John
Comments: Don't know if this will show up. A friend sent it to me. Really unbelieveable. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QVt1Htnu3Ik&NR=1&feature=endscreen
Comments: Petition signed....lets see what happens. I know it went to the top Court last time.
Comments: Thanks Anne, they are doing really well for signatures and the politicians are already taking note. Regards John
Comments: Done it, John Smith.

Comments: Hi Jim. Glad you have raised this matter, there have been many attempts to have this disgusting legislation overturned without success but just because they have failed does not mean we should give up fighting. I have signed the ICBP petition and am asking everyone reading this to do the same, it only costs you a bit of time and can be done digitally. Many of you will be in countries which are not affected but being Lancashire folk you will, I am sure, be willing to help others who are less fortunate, even if they might come from the other side of the border. Regards John
Comments: My apologies that petition website should be http://bit.ly/BritPensions There should be no dot [.] after pensions. Kind regards, Jim Tilley
Comments: Although I'm not from Lancashire many of the members of the 25,000+ British expatriate pensioners' associations in Australia, [BPiA] Canada [CABP] South Africa [SAABP]and New Zealand , with a scattering in Thailand and Indonesia, would hail from the west side of the Pennines. Together we are challenging the UK Government who, by indexing our NI pensions like they do those who are retired in the US, Spain, Barbados and even in Germany, would treat us fairly, morally, equally and without discriminating on us which they now unfortunately do by "freezing" our UK pensions. Most of the British general public would probably like to think we are all treated equally, but as we have discovered that is not the case, our UK pensions are pegged/frozen at the rate applying when we start receiving them in some overseas countries. This we are advised is to save the UK budget a few £s each year. What the UK's Public Service mandarins fail to see is that they are forsaking the Government the opportunity to save up to £30 billions over 15 years by indexing all UK pensions, as do all other OECD countries, for all who retire irrespective of where they choose to live. Such an action we believe would encourage many thousands to then leave the UK to join their families abroad, saving the British NHS £billions in health costs, as well as the Government the winter power subsidies for the elderly, free bus passes etc etc.
The International Consortium of British Pensioners [ICBP], of which BPiA is a founder member, has established a Parliamentary petition, which we now invite all ex-Lancs members to sign please, on our behalf. We seek 100,000 signatures to encourage a Parliamentary debate on this issue. This petition is accessible by visiting http://bit.ly/BritPensions. For more information on our long standing campaign please visit http://www.bpia.org.au or http://www.BritishPensions.com and http://www.telegraph.co.uk and search on "frozen pensions". You'll be amazed at the support we have achieved through that newspaper. If you have any questions on this matter please email me at jimtilley@bigpond.com. I now live to the South of Sydney City. Thank you
Comments: MIKE/ R' Eric Thanks so much for the story on the Horses..at Ormskirk. My daughter went to see "WARHORSE" said it was great..and it brought tears to her eyes. I must go see it! About the "ghostlie" picture. I think it looks like a man..but there is a feeling of large collar ?? I did not watch the Tennis final.but was up all night for the semi with Andie Murray....so wanted him to win .Joyce, have a great time 'Down Mexico way'. Be ever so careful.
Comments: John the guy is running for mayor but in the gold coast. So something more for him to think over. Susan I am amazed they could even tal after..Both semi finals were excellent and I never watched any of the women's. Off to Mexico now. for the Canadians on here , yes I will be careful , yes I will not wander the hotel at night and will not answer the door and that means even for my room mate...lol
Comments: Joyce, I think by the end of the match they both may have felt like that Was a good final, only one I watched. I think gaffer tape on the womens gobs in future!!
Comments: Joyce. Thanks for sending the link, everyone counts. It is early days but the response so far is very encouraging. Regards John
Comments: Believe in ghosts, my fave subject. Look's like a man to me though, and dressed in the style of jacket whiote open collared short, like 50's style.. so unless someone was in the spirit bottle, thats not his mam..
Need to pack but spent over 5 hours watching the Australian tennis final..what a game. Tennis players to me are the fittest athletes. But have to laugh the commentator said Nadal's balls are splattering all over the court, I think that should be re-worded.lol
John I sent that link to a friend of mine in Australia. Waiting to see his response..Good for you
Comments: Dennis, Marjorie sent an e-mail just before Christmas and we said we would get together but things got in the way. I have to go into Houston once a week starting next week so I will make arrangements to have lunch ith her one day and catch up. She is retired ow I do know that.
Comments: Maura.. that link is very spookey. I dont think it looked anything like that fellows mother though. More like a woman from the 1800s wearing a flat lace laid down collar. But defo looks like someone doesn't it?
Comments: R Eric asked me to display these photos of interest.
Comments: Anne m - Do you see very much of Marjorie ?
Comments: A shame it's been demolished! Would be upsetting to see that picture after the building was destroyed.
Comments: Yep, I believe it is a ghost alright.
Comments: Is it a ghost ?? check this out..Cumbria area/ http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-16770489
Comments: All Australians Especially Pensioners. I am seeking your help and rather than put on this page something which will not be of direct interest to other than Australian residents I am just putting a link to my web site which explains everything. http://www.petition.jsmith.id.au Of course all Ex-Lancs folk are welcome to read and perhaps give me some moral support in what I expect to be a long and frustrating battle with the Government. Regards John
