EfstonScience is proud to be celebrating our 38th year as Canada’s Science & Astronomy SuperStore. Started from humble beginnings in 1970 by Evan and Terri Efston, the business was built by offering innovative, unique and scientific products. Today, Nick and Irene, their son and daughter, have the honour and challenge to manage and grow the business and continue to offer products that are new and unique and will spark the inquisitive mind.

This year our founder, Evan Efston is celebrating his 80th birthday… a unique man ahead of his time. His vision of EfstonScience started with the idea of bringing holography equipment to Canada. While researching how to do so, he met the owner and founder of Edmund Scientific in New Jersey and based on a handshake, became their exclusive Canadian distributor. We are no longer only their distributor – today we offer products from hundreds of suppliers whom we source for astronomy, science, technology and educational items.

Generations of shoppers have come through the doors of EfstonScience – we often talk with customers who first visited when their parents brought them in as children and now that they are all grown up, they are bringing in their own kids. We are very pleased and proud that we have fostered such a community that is part of our family.

We invite you to share your thoughts, experiences, and memories about EfstonScience and its founder, Evan Efston, to celebrate these special occasions.

Sorry I did not know about your birthday until today. It was always a pleasure to work with you, and talk with you on any subject that came to mind. You and I both came out of the stubborn mold, but we both were able to learn from each other and the end result was that the project worked out better because of the joint input.

The operating philosophy of your company was that the customer should always walk away happy, and that it was better to be good to someone even if we lost money. That is the way that things should be and I am proud to have known you, just sorry I did not get to take you up on that flying lesson, yet.

Take care and don't wait to your 85th to be in touch.

Dear Mr. Efston,

Happy Birthday!  It is an honour to have been given the opportunity to celebrate this special milestone with you, your family and friends.

You are a very kind and warm individual who has always made me feel welcome in your home.  As you may know, Irene is like a sister to me and I look forward to sharing in her 80th birthday some day!

I wish you much health and happiness in the years to come.  Enjoy your many hobbies and as Greek philosophy has taught us...Pan metron ariston (my guiding principle in life)!

Me agape,
Lydia

    My beloved uncle Evan,

I'm glad I have the opportunity to express some of my thoughts and feelings for you.
You are the smartest man I know, gifted, sincere, honest, generous, full of life, hobbies, interests, with a bright smile and a warm embrace. You believe in human possibilities, you support and inspire everyone who is near you. You are very special, you are unique!
You also have an amazing wife, a precious fellow-traveler all these years and you know what they say....."behind a great man hides a great woman"

I'm really proud to be your niece!

                         Happy Birthday!!!

Warmest wishes to you our dearest Evan for having reached the blessed number of 80 in years lived.

Judging from the glow in your eyes every time both John and I have had the pleasure to meet you, the zest and the warmth you greet everyone you meet with and mostly the "joie de vivre" you so strongly possess, I can surmise that you have led a very happy life.

When we met you next to Terri, your lovely lifelong companion, it was in 2005, and we brought the new year together. Ever since that lovely evening, we have come to know of your giving and inquisitive spirit, the humble person that you are, and the gentlemanly qualities you possess.

You have been a joy to have you as a friend infecting those you touch with the optimism, warmth, and the generosity of yourself. I am certain that both John and I join the voices of your so many other friends in wishing you

                   THE HAPPIEST OF BIRTHDAYS
May the past memories of your life
                   Enrich your today, and
Bring joy in all your tomorrows.

Lovingly your friends,

John and Maria Sandstrom

I'd like to say how impressed I am with Evan's forward looking capability and business acumen. Surely people know today about Efstonscience, its place in the business world and its commercial success, but I wonder how many know or recall how Toronto was when it started.

At a time that Canadians were better known as hewers of wood and drawers of water Evan got the idea to start Eftsonscience. Efstonwhat? Selling objects whose name we couldn't spell, doing things we couldn't understand, and make money out of it?

It took vision, guts and much more to do it and succeed, Evan and Terri have a lot to be proud of. Lita and I congratulate you heartily and we wish you the best.

I met Evans for the first time on December 1999, was my first day of hunting here on Canada.
Now after 9 years I can say that I have been very lucky for being his friend all this years.
Today in this materialistic and fake values society you barely have a chance to meet people like Evans.
What i am amazed from him?
First he cultivates and exercises every day the three component of a human being which are, the body, the brain and the spirit.
Evan is a hunter,Evan use the mind for inventing machines and solutions, Evan love the classical music, the visual arts the history.
Second what I am amazed from him, he is not selfish.
All these values that he has, he wants the others to have it too.
He wants to share his values  and enlighten other people's minds.
Third, Evan is an excellent example in educating and raising children and building an strong and excellent family.
Here he wants to share his excellent experience too.
Are many things to say but I can say that after every time that I meet Evan I live with a good taste.
All I can say I am proud to be his friend.
