Comments: Hello! I'm an Options Counselor for seniors in northeastern North Dakota, meaning I visit with seniors and help them get connected with services, so they can continue living and engaging in their communities. I will be visiting Edinburg Senior Center on May 15th and providing information about the services I offer after lunch. Options Counseling is a free service, so please spread the word if you know seniors in the area who might be interested in exploring their options as they age! To arrange a private appointment for that day or another day, feel free to contact me at Grand Forks Senior Center: 701-772-7245. Sincerely, Kalen Ault LCSW

Comments: My name is Gunnar Homme. I live in Kristiansand in southern Norway. I work with genealogy. I have found much earlier relatives in Edinburg. Among other family Isacsen with sons Aaron and Isaac (local politician). I have posted some pictures on the photo page here, where I hope someone can help with information about those who are in the pictures. In addition, I am looking for descendants of the uncle of Aaron and Isaac. He named Knut Aanundsen. He took the last name Nielsen, born 1870 in Norway and came to America in 1892. He first went to Spring Grove, Houston, Minnesota. After that, I find no trace. Is there anyone who can help with any of this? My email address is g-homme@online.no

The first part of the “crows nest” really brought me back to the late 50’s early 60’s, yes I can hear Elvis singing Blue Christmas along with Brenda Lee singing Rockin around the Christmas Tree. I remember so vividly the large Christmas Tree in the middle of the intersection, with the bank, the hotel, Iva Johnsons store and I believe Melstad Implement on the corners. I recall driving (sliding) around town in my parents 55 Ford with the heater running full blast and the snow falling on the icy streets and blowing over the street lights and it was sooo cold but we didn’t care. Some really great memories. The 1961 Scotties cheerleaders, the year I graduated from ole EHS Layne Troftgruben, Loretta Windingland, Rita Monson, Karen Aumenrud, and knelling is Glenna Lee Seated to the far left is Dinah Haave (I used maiden names as I remember them)

Comments: Hi to those who still remember that once upon a time, there were quite a few 'Nygards' around the area.
My wife Judy and I took a 'memory lane' trip the last half of August and 1st half of Sept this year. WE ran into Harlan Troftgruben at the Odalen Cemetery which was a nice surprise!
The old saying "you can never go back" is so true! People, roads, buildings, even the size of the trees change!
I am wondering who is currently in charge of the cemetery and also it's records. Anyone know?
I saw a note from Janice Holand Loftus -we went to parochial school together and when we lived in Seattle, their kids and our kids were in Sunday School together in West Seattle. Every now and then, we get to cross paths with someone from "home"!!
Keep up the good work on the web site.
Ken Nygard (Amund Nygard's son, Andrew was my grandfather.

Comments: It is SO good to have the guestbook up and running again. I know many people have been frustrated by not being able to post stuff. I think we have solved the problem for everyone.
Let me know what is on your mind.
