Hello!

I've just spent a most lovely afternoon/evening listening repeatedly to Wendesday Morning 3 a.m. and Bookends cds plus that one of your solo albums which carry your name... Hearing your beautiful singing and harmonizing means a world to me - so thank you for all that! It makes me feel alive and soothes in home-sickness.

I'm hoping to see you one day on a tour - maybe even in Scandinavia.

Greetings from Finland,

I had the pleasure of attend a your show only once (Odense, October 2008).Wonderful !!!!!!!
I live in Italy, therefore I have not had the opportunity to see the shows S & G in Australia and Japan.
I know your music only some years even if the melody of Sounds of silence, El condor pasa,What a wonderful world , I Shall Sing and other they were part of soundtrack of my life.
But with Internet and Youtube I could see your and Paul's face , know your history and fall in love of your music (and you) .
Thank you for the wonderful music that you have given... but you come in Europe, soon, please with all my heart.

Hi Art

I'm 25 years old... my dad had "homeward bound" on a cassette mix tape that used to play on the long scenic drive home from school. He loved Simon and Garfunkel... I do too.
I've listened to your solo work on myspace, and it's beautiful. It's pretty rare when I find an artist who consistently creates songs that touch my soul... but you have it. Thanks

Just wanted to thank you for the great music over the years. The songs always take me back in time and make me laugh or cry, from good memories and bad.

"All I Know" - that one gets me everytime I listen to it. But it's such a lovely song I can't keep from playing it now and then.

Hi
I think it´s extremely sad that Universal has decided to stop a play from Latvia to be shown in Stockholm. The play includes songs by Simon & Garfunkel and has been shown in several different cities i Europe. The theater in Stockholm, Stockholms stadsteater, is a non-profit theater.
I´m a big fan of Simon & Garfunkel and I think this i very sad.

I am now 56 yrs old and I have been listening to Art Garfunkel since I was old enough to head to a record store. Your voice is a musical instrument in itself, and I literally listen to your songs on a daily basis! I have been to mostly all of your concerts..wherever they may be in the continental U.S. and I was absolutely THRILLED when you and Paul got back together for you last tour! It was spectacular!!! Do you have a schedule of appearances for 2010?

My God, thank you. Thank you for the brilliance you have added to the music world. I *love* you. I may only be twelve, but I know your voice when I hear it. It's locked in my head.. Just like.. the sound of silence.

Once again, thank you.
Hannah.

While my children were growing up, I always played Angel Clare, while we were driving in the car. To this day, my girls, all in their 20's know all the lyrics to every song. It has always been one of my favorites. I have the album, cassette and CD. My four daughters favorite...Another Lullaby..was what I sang to them each night. I have bought each of them a CD of Angel Clare, which I will give them when they have children.

I am hopeful to see you in concert in 2010, unfortunately, there are no local dates for 2009. I did see you in person at Epcot, several years ago, for the Christmas concert..you did a reading and my daughters were in the choir. I was thrilled!!

"Been an Art Garfunkel for a very long time." My good friend and longtime lover the former Mrs.Omar and myself, are in the field of Health Care. I am a "caregiver", and Diane is a Governess. We've worked together before-hopefully not for the last time. Everytime we get off work, we always listen to an Art Garfunkel song.

Well, hello old friend...
I happened to catch you on my local PBS station after returning from a concert with Willie Nelson, John Mellencamp and Bob Dylan. Not a bad night... Looking at your albums, I was reminded of an idea I had for you years ago. Willie did a tribute album of Lefty Frizzell songs titled, "To Lefty from Willie". I thought you might do an album of Willie's tunes called, "From Lefty to Willie". "Angel Flying Too Close to the Ground" would be so beautiful sung by you. He has many songs that would seem to suit your voice. Just a thought. I hope this finds you healthy and happy!

Warmest Wishes,
Donna

Dear Art,
I have never seen you in person, only on PBS broadcasts of "Simon & Garfunkel". I have always loved your performances, and in fact have felt a physical attraction to you. Nothing wrong with that. You're a guy, I'm a gal (77, but young at heart). The only problem all these years is that you also physically reminded me of my son! Very confusing... Well, I have just seen a PBS broadcast of the Gershwin Award to Paul Simon. Hey, you're old enough now that you don't remind me of my son anymore! Yeah! I don't feel guilty anymore!

Welcome to old age, your loving fan, Martha

Hi There.
I want to say that you are still my only inspiration for whenever I have a chance to sing. I particularly love, "All I Know" from the Angel Claire album.
I would love to see you in concert.

I live in Winnipeg Canada. Any chance of coming way up here for a concert?. I have followed your career since the S & G days. Paul was my influence in playing the guitar, you were my influence in singing, I still think you have the "best damn falsatto voice in the world" as David Crosby once said of you. I heartily agree.

I love your concert that you did at the Registry Hall in New York's Ellis Island. I have the DVD, and I play it every so often.

Thank you for your wonderful God-given talents and also for sharing it with so many people all over the world. You have a huge following of fans here in Canada too. Don't forget about us!!!!

Lots of continued success in your future

An ardent fan - Darryl

Thank you for the inspiration found in your library list. I have set a goal of reading 100 books during this year--I have completed 62 as os today. I am now keeping my own written list. This is a challenge for me since I am relearning much after being unable to talk or walk two years ago due to a bacterial/viral infection in my brain. Reading a variety of materials has been very helpful to me.

Dear Arty,
Just wanted to say, have seen the utube clips of your shows here in Australia (melbourne in particular) and am so thrilled to re-live (and re-love) those wonderful moments, which I never thought I would get the opportunity to experience in "real life". I am eternally greatful to you and Paul Simon for coming to our shores, and once again, would love to see you back in a couple of years, before we all get too old......please... those lyrics, those melodies, and YOU'RE wonderful voice will stay with me for ever.

Dear Art,
I remember in the 7th grade, my English teacher thought that you weren't much of a singer as part of Simon & Garfunkel. But I told her that yours was the voice for Bridge Over Troubled Waters, and that you had the most beautiful tenor voice in the world of Pop music. Nearly 40 years later, I hold the same opinion of your singing. I've got 8 of your cd's and love them all. I've sung your songs in my own performances and have even been favorably compared with you. I always take that as a very high compliment. Thanks for years of beautiful music making. I hope you have many more ahead. God bless you and your family.

Grateful, grateful, truly blessed, and duly grateful,

PS: I hope you'll come to the Pacific Northwest in concert someday soon. Eugene, OR has a wonderful venue at the HULT Center.

Hi Art, I am from New Zealand (the land of the kiwifruit) Went to your concert on the 14th of June, what a magic night! Paul Simon is great and I'm torn between you both but you have a way of soothing the soul with every song you sing. A week later I had a miscarriage of our 2nd child and recovering I listened your Simon & Garfunkel songs on headphones and also your own 1998 CD. I thought I would tell you that your wonderful voice played a big part in helping me through the grief. I am a singer too and have been in 'theatre' since I was about 8 (34 now) and to help me I'd imagine you and I were singing together. I wonder, would Bright Eyes work as a duet? Thank you Arty for helping to mend my broken heart.

Nicholas Grace Widnes England

Comments:
Hi Nicholas Grace from Widnes England writes:

I recently posted information about how I met Art Garfunkel after a concert performance in Liverpool back in 2003. Well due to a typo some of the information was incorrect regarding my connection with Paul Simon.

In 1965 Paul Simon did indeed come to Widnes whilst touring the northern folk clubs. He performed at club run by Mr Geoff Speed. When Geoff discovered Paul had no base to stay at he invited him to stay at his family home in Coroners Lane (not Cronners Lane). Paul stayed there a couple of days. During this time he began writing what would eventually become "Homeward Bound"

Widnes Railway Station has officially been recognized as the rail station mentioned in the song and where Paul began writing the song "Homeward Bound". Not quite true Geoff explained when Paul got to the station it was late with train pulling in Paul only had time to run and catch train, no time to play guitar.

Whilst at Geoff's house Paul showed him an instrumental called "Angie" by the late Davey Graham. He played it on Geoff guitar. When Geoff and his wife had a baby daughter they named her after the tune.

Many years later I became a member of the UK guitar Club The Fender Club and ran the Widnes Fellowship till Fender's agents shut the club down. At one of our meetings Mr Speed came along and told our members all about Paul Simon's visit to Widnes.

Geoff also brought the very guitar played by Paul and I got to strum it.

If you want to read more details about Paul's northern tour of England in 1965 check out the book

I,m a bit late in writing this, but had to say just how much my wife and I enjoyed the show in melbourne on June 26. It was surreal seeing these people on stage who we felt we knew, and this included many of the musicians who we have watched many times on DVDs. It was without a doubt a highlight for us to be entertained by such wonderful voices and songs. The tribute to Michael Jackson was beautifully done and I cant think of a better song than Bright eyes to dedicate. It is unlikely that we will have another opportunity to see anything like this again and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

I enjoyed the concert on July 10th(Friday) in Tokyo.
I learned English with lyrics of Simon & garfunkel almost 40 years ago.
When I decide to go to the concert in Tokyo, I think because they are 68 years old now, I can't expect the same voice as I heared many years ago. However, it was totally wrong!!
Their voice was touching, merodious, and energetic!
They had 'en chores '4 times amasingly, and then I convinced " They will come back again in Tokyo in 2 years when they become 70."
I really want to hear their comment on their 70th then. "Is it really 'terribly strange' to be seventy ?"
I have a favor to the people who joind to the July 10th' concert.
I am making a list for the concert to write a blog, but I can't remember well.

I remember the title,'America''April come, she will''Bridge over troubled water''El condor pasa'
'Homeward bound''Kathy's song''I am a rock''Mrs. Robinson' 'Slip sliding away' 'Scarborough Fair'
Still crazy after all these years' ???

What was the first song? If possible, could anybody numbers the list?

And the enchore songs are sure. ' The sound of silence'' The boxer' 'Leaves that are green.' and 'Cecillia'

Thank you.
