Janice...I will keep your mother in my prayers. It is hard when our parents get older. I am so grateful that your mom has you to take care of her. Salt is very important to have in our body. We do need to have a little bit of it every day. Gentle hugs coming your way Janice...and lots of prayers.

Sally...Please let us know how Gayle is doing. Also we really want to know how Lou is doing. Lots of prayers going up for you too.

Good Morning Buddies....I have been running like crazy for over a week now. It was so good to see my Sarah again and to meet my *Grand dog*, Louie. Sarah looked really well and Louie...well, he is a sweetie. Ray and I really took to Louie right away. Louie is a gentle dog with lots of love. Sarah didn't get the job out here. Sarah felt that the job was really meant for someone already in the school. The school of course, had to do interviews to keep things legal. Sarah took the position in Toledo, Ohio....and immediately received a lot of emails from the school. They can't wait for Sarah to get back there. Sarah is on her way to Madison, Wisconsin. She will be working on the play Evita. Sarah will be looking for a nice place to live where she can still keep Louie. That is very important to her. ONCE again Sarah will be back in snow....and she can't wait. WE hated to see Sarah and Louie leave on Tuesday. Our home seems so empty now but Christmas isn't too far away....

Today I will head down to San Diego and have my pre-op appt for my eye surgery next week. It is a bit of a drive and the FWYs do get a bit crazy. It will be so much cooler down there....so the drive I hope will be a nice one.

What will everyone do for the 4th of July??

For us, we will be home as usual. It will be hot so kicking back just watching movies and playing a few games sounds good to us. Ray may cook up his yummy burgers. I just might make a nice potato salad for Ray to enjoy. He does love potato salad.

Sharon (HOI)...Thank you for reminding us to do our BSE. They are so important to do. I would like to add that ALL of us do need to have a yearly physical, bloodwork, chest X-ray and a yearly mammo. Very important to take care of our whole body too.

Eileen...I have been thinking about you. Hope you are doing well my friend.

Beck...Thank you so much for my Boyds Bingo win. I do love Ella Lovejoy. I just love her. I have her sitting right here by my monitor along with my Shoe Box bear that I received from Counrty Gifts 'n Such. They do look very cute together I might add.

Dave and Linda....When is the next Boyds Bingo game??

Have a blessed day everyone...and HEY! If you haven't posted in awhile please check in so we know how you are doing. Prayers for ALL and many hugs to go all around too. I do LOVE all of you.

Hi All!
This is the first time I am using my home computer in weeks!
I spent most of June at my sister's house, babysitting my mom, while my sister was vacationing in Egypt. (Mom has dementia and cannot be left alone for more than a couple of minutes.)

Mom kept calling me by my sister's name....Most of the time, I don't think she knew who I was.  I kept telling her my name at first, but then just figured "oh well"  and just answered anyway.

She saw herself in the mirror and said, "That man is looking at me!" I told her it was a miirror and it was her. She looked upset and said "Noooo!"
Another time she saw herself in the mirror and said there was a nice little girl looking at her...I again told her that it was her reflection...She said, "That's OK too."

Yesterday morning (after my sister got home and I was at my house), a health-care worker was getting Mom ready for Adult Daycare and Mom had an episode where she got sick and passed out. (She's had these episodes a couple of times before, but they hadn't happened for months. She is in the hospital right now, getting checked to find out why. My sister talked to the cardiologist and he said she needs more salt in her diet and was probably dehydrated. (?)

Hope everyone is well!
Has anyone heard anything from Sally?

Hugs and Prayers for All!
Janice

dave- I wondered where those colors went to... thanks for keeping the board up and going for us...

denise- I think about any annual besides impatients and begonias can take the sun... they just need watered alot when the heat is as bad as it has been... petunias do great where ever they are planted..and if you keep dead heading they'll do great all summer...  at least it has cooled down a bit here...  the humidity is gone and only 70 today.. what a change from what we had last week...

we are going to a church pitch in cookout 4th of july celebration tonight.  I actually think I'll have to wear jeans... crazy indiana weather!!

hope you all have a great 4th!!

Besides dealing with Ebay, are there any other sites still running where I can post items that I am looking for to complete my collection???

I've only found 2 places to post and they really didnt seem to have much traffic at all. Seems like ebay really did a number on buying and selling of Boyds.

I am looking for some old cats and not sure where to look anymore. Can someone help??

Thanks! Andrea

Left this afternoon right at 12 Noon from home and made it to Oneonta, NY at 4:30 with 1 bathroom break.  Garmen got me here with no problems at all...that Jill really knows where to go, LOL!  Amy, there sure isn't much here but then again maybe I am in the quiet part of town.  Called the boss from our Corporate office and let him know that I had made it and he said that he would call when they all go for dinner.  Good thing cause I don't see anything around the hotel.  Well, brought some work so I will get busy.

Verna, hope you have a good time seeing the Oak Ridge Boys tonight.

Prayers and Hugs to all in need.

OK, I"m going to try a font color and see if I get it.

Beck- Yep, it's so darn HOT outside I can't stand it here either. I really wanted to do some planting but....Heck with it. Between the heat and the humidity and the headache I can't seem to unload...forget it.
AC is my friend...though not when the bill arrives!

All you gardeners out there, I have a question for you. What is a good, hearty and fast growing annual that will tolerate lots of sun?? I'd planted ground cover daises and they are fading fast....also, I need something rabbits won't eat, since we have alot around here. Any suggestion is most welcome.

Rose T - wish your Ralph a Belated Happy Birthday please. Sorry I missed it, been off the internet a lot lately.

I've added a new military man to my family
My SIL graduated last week from Great Lakes Naval Base.
Now, I have an Army son, a Coast Guard son and a Navy SIL...
Yes, I am quite proud of all of them and can't help but do the "mom thing" and brag a bit.

Have a wonderful, air-conditioned weekend everyone!

JENNI, I have to say that I agree with Bethy, that MY all time favorite Boyds bear is BINKIE also.  I , too, have several of them.  Because I am packing away all the bears I have on display to get the room painted, I have been re-visiting them and enjoying them once again.  They get forgotten when up in bookcases  and in baskets.  Sorry to say that most of my favorite  bears are NOT Boyds.  I love PADDINGTON bear a  lot and POOH and my Steve Schutt artist bears, and many other artist bears .
Speaking of bears I dont' see any posts about the BOYDS show on QVC today.  There was a time that this board would be humming for a week when a show was expected.  How we scrambled to get those numbers ahead of time.  LOL!  My family knew that if it was a 5 pm show then they did NOT get dinner served until AFTER the show was over.  Well, today I got up and remembered the show would be on at 3!  And then, didn't I forget about it until  5 minutes before it was over! How times have changed!   So I only got to see the last bear, which was a big one.  I was not planning on buying any as it is a real shame all the bears that are in storage around here.

Jenni I have so many Boyds in my house and my favorite is ALL of them most days!  I do love my Boyds Pooh bears - one of my favorite old time bears is Binkie - he has the sweetest, most winsome face - which may be why I have at least 3 of them!

Wow - some day today will be a Jeopardy question - which two pop celebrities died on this date in 2009?  Farrah and Michael Jackson!  I will remember him as the sweet young boy with the Jackson 5 singing and dancing, not the freak show he became.

Rose - please give Ralph my belated birthday wishes!

Rose- Last time I was in Oneonta, there wasn't a lot there! My sister went to SUNY Oneonta for her freshman year. There was a bbq place that everyone up there is crazy about- I think it's Brooks? I'm not fond of bbq so I really disliked having to go there. It's a pretty area though- not too far from Cobleskill, but there's not much there either- lots of big farms.

Like many other places, it is very hot here. Well, hot in my opinion. 90* is hot. It's also humid and the air quality is worse than usual. It makes it hard for me to breathe because my allergies are in full force too, so I've become an indoor creature.

We are now officially overrun with raspberries- soon that will be all that is in either freezer. I'm contemplating just letting people come over and pick what they want. I think Erich is even getting a bit sick of them, and it was his idea to have them.

Elaine-hope everything works out for Sarah. And yes- Christmas is just 6 months away. I bought my plane ticket last night.

Jenni,
And it does background color too!  But how do ya turn it off?
There. A person could get pretty wild with that one. Isn't it amazing what these gadgets can do?  The only problem is that they can do so much it gets confusing.  I'll bet you're doing just what I am today.  You're looking forward to being able to be one of those dratted  people who have been known to buy out QVC items before they can be presented on the show. Finally, after all these years of cursing them we can BE THEM!  YEAH!  But so far they haven't been posted on the QVC website.  Wouldn't it be just my luck for QVC to change its policy and not post things ahead of the show today.  I'm personally hoping to find that cute bear in a sundress and straw hat which was mysteriously pictured on the FOB newsletter - for Spring was it- with a wheelbarrel. No one but no one can tell me who she is!  She doesn't seem like a fall bear, but that could be another possibility I  suppose.
Today my favorite bear is...Courtney.  In blue plaid.  The old bears can be SO CUTE can't they? Who is your favorite bear?
Good luck on QVC!  I may just call 'em and ask 'em why the new boyds aren't posted yet.  I like to keep 'em on their toes, so they remember how dedicated Boyds fans are.

Ralph wanted me to get on and Thank everyone for the birthday wishes.  He had a nice birthday dinner at a local Italian resturant (his favorite).

I with you Buffy...I like it between 60-70.  Since Ralph's illness he likes it very warm in the house but as soon as I get home from work I turn on the air and he puts a sweater on, LOL!

I am off to Oneonta, NY for work on Sunday but only for a couple days.  I tried to talk Ralph into coming with me but he didn't want to go and sit in the hotel all day, never been there so I don't know of anything there for him to do.  Looking forward to the long 4th of July weekend.

Have a great day and prayers and hugs to all in need.

Happy Birthday Ralph....I had to get on tonight to wish you a very Happy Birthday. What a year you have been through.........and look..so many happy wishes to one of the sweetest guys we know. I hope you had the best birthday ever. YOU are our miracle man.

Buffy...I know that it has been hard on you not to be able to do too much. Please take extra care of your self now. We want you to be 100%...we love you so much. Gentle hugs heading your way.

Oh Bethy...The little critter is soooooooooo cute. I swear I would of freaked for sure. I swear that little guy was smiling at you...:0

My Sarah arrived safe and sound. She arrived on late yesterday afternoon. Poor girl was sidelined with a migraine in Flagstaff. She took her meds and slept for awhile. Sarah called me when she was an hour away from us.....Sarah realized that she had left her cell phone at her friend Tammy's home. Hopefully we will get it in the mail soon. Sarah's friend is mailing the phone overnight. Anywho...Sarah's interview went very well today. BUT...Sarah feels it is just a cover-up interview. The school probably wants to hire inside the school. So we will see. It is just fun seeing Sarah again and having her stay with us too. Her Comfort Retriever is such a precious dog. Louie is just adorable. So our *Grand Dog* has made himself at home. Ray and I played with Louie while Sarah was away at the interview. OH!! We loved having Louie to ourselves. He is such a good dog.

Sadly, Sarah will probably leave this Monday. She must get to Wisconsin. She is chorographing (sp) a play. I am going to miss her so much....but hey...if she doesn't get this job...Christmas is only 185 days away!!

Time for me to bid everyone good night. Thought I had better get my bahooney in here to wish Ralph a Happy Birthday. Prayers for ALL and many hugs to go all around. LOVE ALL of you.

Wow, Bethy I just can't imagine a gator coming up to my house.  Cute but I wouldn't want one, LOL!  Guess I will stick with our deer & fawns.  Of course they can do a lot of vehicle damage for being so darn cute.

It is Ralph's Birthday today...he is 60!  He is just happy to see his 60th birthday.  Going to take him out to dinner tonight.

Amy, still remember the jam...you sure do well with those berries!

Going to be a hot couple days here in WNY.  Buffy summer is finally here!  I am not one that likes the heat...give me 60-70 and sun any time.

Sally, yes please let us know how things are going with Gayle.

Bethy- Cute gator! When I was in college I was visiting my grandparents in DeBary and as my aunt and I walked through their development, a gator about that size walked in front of us. I went back to Gram's to get my camera, and my aunt kept the gator contained on a neighbor's porch by guarding it with a hoe! It was pretty agitated by the time I got back.

hope everyone is doing well. The raspberries are on, we already have about 7 qts of black and 2 of red in the freezer. Erich goes out every day and picks for about half an hour- and our patch isn't that big! We have pumpkins growing too- I'm hoping for a very large one. We also have corn and beans and potatoes and watermelon in the garden.

Has anyone heard from Sally? I hope Gayle is ok, Lou too.

Buffy- it is so hot here, you would want to be inside. I am glad you are slowly getting better.

Hi Jenni!  When you are posting, above the box where you type the words you will see a capital T with some color blocks next to it.  Click on that and you can pick a color for your text.  You can change the size and color and font type before you post.  Try it -

I haven't heard anything about the QVC Boyds show, I think they are keeping things from us til right before the show this time.  There was one bear in the new FoB newsletter that looks awesome - an Americana bear.

We had a visitor the other day just outside our gate - am going to try to post a picture -

BETHY, I AM "keeping me chin" up. but boy, after 10 wks it is going to need a sling to hold it up!  I am NOT liking this confinement so much anymore!  But knowing there are so many other buddies with MUCH more serious problems keeps me going.  I do so wish that those that come on and ask for Prayers, would also come back on and let us know if they are working or not and how they are coping!
BARB T..Yes, a stressful time for many in the area with this nasty stuff going on.  Keeping you guys in my Prayers for a good outcome!  You are making me hungry for strawberries now.  They are so LATE this year.  These danged rains are not helping much.  The warm weather expected for next week may be the boost they need.  IF the rains don't make them go all moldy before they can be picked.      BECK, do you have your "holidays" mixed up?   This is supposed to be FATHERS day weekend........NOT Mothers Day!  HOW did you gals manage to pull that one off? I am on my 4th afternoon in a row now for vacuuming and packing Teddy Bears.  I have had fun re-visiting so many of my collection.  So many bears that I had forgotten I ever had.  It was bringing back memories of the days when QVC had their "Teddy Tuesdays" and used to sell  the Steiff, Boyds, Annette Funicello, Merrythought, Hermann, Dean's and sooooooo many others.  Those were sure the "good old days"!!!!!!!!!
Wishing all the DH's out there a HAPPY and HEALTHY FATHERS DAY!
