Good Sunday to you all!

I was wondering if any of you knew anything about sis@retiredboydsbears. When I first started on the net, she had listings for bears for sale. I tried to order from her, but never got through. Then about a month later, I saw on Yahoo that she had closed her store. She had a bear I wanted very much. Do any of you know if she sold her inventory to someone else? Sis had a lot of retired bears htf.

I hope everyone is getting better!! Have you remembered to get your flu shots?

My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone! Hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving. "Don't forget to thaw the turkey before deep frying it!" I love that commercial!!

Good to see you Sharon M. How is Sally Beagle? My beagles are very hyper today. Onyx has played and played and wanted attention. They might be 7, but they think they are still puppies.

We had snow today! First of the season. It didn't stick, it was raining and cold and sometimes the rain was snow. We were out running errands, it was a yucky day to be out. I had to go to JCP because I had ordered Erich 2 shirts for Christmas, and when they sent me the items, I had 1 shirt and 2 pairs of women's pants. The mall was SWAMPED! You would have thought it was 2 weeks before Christmas, not 6. It makes me glad that I have most of my shopping done. All I have to get is something for the 4 dogs (my 2 plus my sister's 2) and one more thing for my mom. Wow, Christmas shopping is SO much easier on the internet! LOL!

Today another envelope came from my Aunt. It had my grandpa's high school diploma. That was a nice surprise.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend!

Good morning,

I mostly read the board but I will be away from my computer for the next couple of weeks for business travel and vacation and I wanted to wish everyone a safe and Happy Thanksgiving.

Also I will be thinking about and praying for all the loved ones who are sick or just need a prayer.

I look forward to the QVC show on the Friday after Thanksgiving.  Don't buy as much any more but it is fun to see what is new.   All my extra cash goes into my quilting.

Amy I envy you with all the pictures and history.  I got a lot of good pictures when my parents passed away.

Hope everyone has a great day.

I have finally finished the preliminary sort of everything my aunt sent to me. Some of what she sent to me was junk; but then I have found a lot of treasures. In addition to what I already mentioned, let's see what else there is: 2 LIFE magazines from 1926 plus a Harper's Weekly newspaper from 1861, which is in really poor condition. A TON of family photographs (truly numbering in the hundreds), mostly from my grandfather's side of the family. Until last night, only about 20% of the photos had been labeled. Last night I opened a box that was full of old photos, from the 1890s and early 1900s. And of those, probably 80% were labeled. I now have pictures of my great grandparents, and even a few of  a couple of sets of great-great grandparents. There are a lot of pictures of my grandfather's aunts. It's neat to look at the hairstyles and clothing. I've got a lot of work to do on the family history now!

I also found what must have been Grandpa's treasure box when he was a boy. It was an old candy box that was full of things that were obviously important to him. Things from boy scouts, birthday cards he received as a boy, the notes of congratulations he received when he graduated, the souvenirs from his senior class trip to DC. It was a neat glimpse at my grandpa as a boy.

It has been pretty emotional to go through all of this. But I know I'm lucky to have such valuable information for the ancestry. My grandfather had a lot of aunts who married but didn't have children. He cared for them as they got older, and he was the one who had to take care of their possessions when they passed away. So I'm sure that's how we ended up with all of this. I have the pictures loosely sorted, now I need to just go through everything one piece at a time.

I'm so exhausted! I've been swamped at work and then I come home at night and go through the boxes. I'm glad the weekend is coming soon, but I've got so much to do!

I'm still here and feeling a little better.  I went to work today for the first time since 9/5/08.......boy, does time fly.  It seems like I missed summer....now winter is knocking on the door.

I've been reading and praying for all of you.  I wish I had time to answer everyone---maybe over the weekend--now that my computer seems to be working.

I'll try to start posting more....it's like a ghost town here .  I really miss the good old days.

Barb T...Thank you so much for letting us know about Ralph. Gosh..this has to be so hard on Rose. Please let Rose know we are all praying...and give her a big hug. It is hard to believe that four weeks have gone by...Ralph will really be surprised at that!! Thank you for keeping Sarah in your thoughts too. She and I both appreciate it.

Malinda....So Con just likes the cream... So sorry about Con having pink eye. Hoping his eye will be cleared up soon. Still can't believe how old the boys are now.............time has gone by so fast. Now..you must give us a Scott and Connor story. We all love them. Thank you also for prayers for Sarah. This has gone on too long.I may not get to have her home for Christmas..she may not be well enough to travel.

I am staying home tomorrow. I have a viral infection.Pretty yucky. I have lost my voice completely. I did go to *My Playground* today since the principal was suppose to be in our room to do an evaluation. So I bundled up and went off to school............the principal never showed up. I will be home tomorrow and rest. Lots of water........and hot soup...plus meds to take. All I do is squeak when I talk...too funny. I feel like a *squeak* toy!!!

Before I close.....Friday the Rockefeller Christmas Tree will arrive on The Today Show. I always love seeing Al on the big Tree truck. Already have the DVR set to record. Ah...The Christmas Season is here. I'm in *hog heaven*

Thanks everyone!!! It's so nice to be back!!!  I have really missed everyone.

I will be keeping Rose and Ralph in my thoughts and prayers, I hope he continues to improve.

Elaine-I am keeping Sarah and your family in my thoughts and prayers as well.  I hope the doctors are able to diagnose her soon.   Con only likes the cream in the middle of the Oreos, so he leaves the cookie part behind.  I got called at work to pick up Con, from school today.  That child has pink eye again!!!  He doesn't get colds or the flu much, but he gets pink eye like crazy.

Amy- I am so very jealous!!!!  I would love more pictures and information on my family.  You have got boxes of treasures that's for sure!!!  The few original photo graphs that we have from the 1860's, I scanned into the computer and then put them in my lock box at the bank.  That way I can look at them or even print them out, but I know the originals are safely tucked away.

Thank you Barb for  letting us know how Ralph is doing. I hope he will continue to improve.

I have gotten a total of 8 boxes from my aunt in the last week. Can you say overwhelmed??????? The boxes that came yesterday are photographs that are from the 1860s and such. Some are labelled, some are not. You cannot find my dining room table right now. I cleaned the downstairs this weekend, but the dining room table is covered with boxes. I have just a little area in front of one of the chairs to sort things.

Back to work. It's hard to believe Thanksgiving is just around the corner!

Hi everyone
Mal,  glad to see you post.  You sound like your home if full of love and laughter.  I would have more animals if Mort would let me.  He thinks two cats are enough.  Especially when our kids come home and bring their animals.
Elaine, I hope the doctors find the problem that is causing Sarah all this trouble soon.  Hope your eye is healing well.
Amy, what a wonderful gift you found in that box.  I hope you find some more in the next boxes and share with us.  I would definately frame that letter too.
We are home from Michigan.  Had a good time visiting my family.
I want to update you on Ralph.  He has had some ups and downs.  While we were away he was diagnosed with pneumonia and a partially collapsed lung.  He is on a special bed that vibrates and is helping to break up the congestion.  He has not needed anymore surgeries and his kidney function has returned.  Yesterday he opened his eyes when he heard Rose and Linda talking.  She was so excited.  He has had some improvements and setbacks but we are hoping that he will soon be more awake.  I can't help but wonder what he will say when he learns he has lost almost 4 weeks.  I want to thank all of you for prayers and good thoughts.  Rose is holding up okay.  I just don't know how she does it.  Mort and I are going up tonight to see him and hopefully I will have some more good news to share.
While we were in Michigan I was amazed not to see any Boyds.  Frankemueth always had a lot of them in the stores.  There was only one store that had any.  I will say that I loved the new treasure boxes.  We had met Amy French at GB in 2007 and told her that they needed to do some different TB's.  This years hats are so cute.  I saw them in Michigan but didn't buy them.  I was really tempted though.  I looked that the plush and I liked the faces alot too.  I am hoping that Boyds will turn around with the new parent company.
Have a great day all

Buffy...There isn't anything new on Sarah tonight. She is still having severe head pain. The strong pain meds will knock the pain down but she can't drive or work. The next step is for Sarah to see a specialist who will run tests on Sarah's brain. This specialist will see how her brain functions....and also check out her memory. I don't know what this type of specialist is called. Sarah is waiting for an appointment. Hopefully soon.....I am getting so flustered with all of this. Thank you everyone for keeping Sarah in your prayers. She told me to thank all of you.

So very sorry that I hadn't posted in the last few days. I haven't been feeling too well. I sit here now without a voice. My voice actually went this afternoon while I was talking to Sarah. Ray is having a lot of fun with me not having a voice........I told him that I would squeak if I had too!!!

I am so glad that tomorrow is a holiday. Going to rest up and hope to stay out of trouble... For me that is very hard. Going to curl up and watch a few movies and work on my Christmas cards.

Prayers for Ralph and also for Rose. I hope we hear how Ralph is doing very soon.

Annie...Hope you are feeling better. Sending you big huggies.

Have a great evening everyone. Going to watch TV with my sweetie. Prayers for ALL tonight...and many hugs to go all around.

Prayers going out to everyone!!!  I was going to make a list of everyone needing prayers, then I got distracted!!!  But know that I am thinking of you all.

Time has gone by so fast!!!  Scott is already acting like a teenager, but he's still so sweet and talkative.  He's become quite the young chef, he usually cooks breakfast during the week for us and he plans two meals a week and cooks them as well.  Con is just ornery Con!!!  He still wants to be a garbage man during the day, and put sprinkles on donuts at night.

Yes, I am still hiding the Oreos!!!  I forgot once, and I went to get some and Con had eaten all the cream filling out of them and left the cookies.  How could I not just laughed till I cried???

Our family has gotten bigger since the last time I was on here.  We have four dogs, Bailey the wonder horse, her father Felony (we are fostering him while his owner is in the Navy), Dublin my little chocolate Minpin and his brother Aristole.  We have three cats, our oldest Baby passed away last month, she would have been 14 years old next month.  And we also have 1 hamster, two fish, and two toads.  Yes, I should open my own zoo!!!

I hope Kristy's Dad is coming along on the schedule they have hoped for.  Continued Prayers for him.  ANNIE, it is time for an update from you!!!!!!!!!!!! Keeping you in my Prayers!
And, continued Prayers for Ralph & Rose.  We sure have a lot of Prayers needed these days.

Continued BIG TIME PRAYERS for our dear RALPH and BIG TIME HUGS for ROSE.  They have both been through so much!!!!!!
SHARON, I will say some Prayers for your nephew and his wife.  It is said that happens for a reason, mostly that the fetus was defective.  Please tell her NOT to blame herself!  I went through that also, but had a 7 mo. old to take care of so it was easier for me.  I am TRYING to take care of myself, but I don't "do" sickness stuff too well.  You would think that, with what I went through with my Mom's long illness, having my Dad live to 94 and moving in with me, sharing caretaking of my sister, who had cancer, and SIL in a nursing home 8 yrs and we cared for her before that, and caring for 2 elderly neighbors for 6 yrs, and then DH having been in and out of ER and the hospital annually for the past 6 yrs. that I would be an "OLD PRO" at this but NOT SO!
MAL, GLAD to see that you are still with us here.  OH MY!  Can Connor be 8 and Scott 11 ALREADY!
Nice that you are able to get out to do some part time work and I hope you get full time soon, if that is what you are looking for.  Don't stay away so long.  I think of you everytime I see the OREO's in the cookie aisle!  Are you STILL hiding packages of those?  They have so many different variety's now , and I still think the originals are THE BEST!  Which reminds me, when I went to reach for a box of RITZ crackers today, I found 5 or 6 different varieties before I could find the REGULAR ONES.  I know low fat and low salt and all that MIGHT be better for us.....but it seems those lose the original taste.  If I am only going to have a few at a time then I want something that TASTES good and not what might be BETTER for me!

Mal,  WOW!! so great so see you dear girl.  Can't believe your kids are that big already.  Where does the time go???????
Don't stay away so long next time.  We miss you and your stories about your boys.

Amy-  You are so fortunate to have all of those treasures!!!  Just recently I saw pictures of my Great Grandparents for the first time.  This past summer we made a trip to Alabama and we were able to find some information we have been searching for.  After coming back we started receiving letters in the mail from relatives that heard from the Hall of Records lady that we were interested in our family tree.  Because of all the letters and emails going back and forth between all of us, it was decided that a family reunion is needed, so in May we will be heading back to Alabama to meet even more family members.  Genealogy has become an addiction of mine!!!!

Buffy- Sharon is right. You've got to take care of yourself too!

Sharon- sending prayers & hugs for your nephew & wife. I hope they will be able to find people nearby that are comforting to them. I know when Laura went through it, she had a lot of support from many women who'd been through it too. I think that helped her.

The other 2 boxes arrived today. Nothing as truly exciting as the first box. Some of my Grandpa's books though, and to me those are priceless. My grandfather always wrote his name in the front of the book, and when he got it. One says 'Christmas 1986' and I think it is one we bought for him, because it's about the Civil War. Another one says '1932'. He has the books all marked with bookmarks and napkins and even old popsicle sticks. It's like there was something on that page he wanted to remember, so he found what he could to mark it. I will have fun reading those and trying to figure out what interested him. I'm just so grateful to have some of his books. He was a bookworm, like me. And I know how much his books meant to him, so I feel like it's a part of him. And I am so proud that Sydney loves books, and loves to read. I felt like Grandpa gave me that gift, and I am giving it to her. A couple of times my sister has put Sydney down for her nap and gone back in to find the munchkin sitting up in her bed reading one book, with several others spread around her. Of course I use the word 'reading' loosely, at 2 she can't read yet but she's doing her best.

I have recently started communicating with a woman who is a distant relative of mine. Her grandmother and my grandmother were first cousins. So I don't know what that makes us. But she was talking about her aunts & uncles, and a lot of them are people we know in town. I even went to school with some of her cousins. It's always so funny to see how small the world is.

Enjoy the weekend everyone! It is supposed to be cold here, but I've got to get the house cleaned. Ugh. I do NOT like cleaning.

Hey Everyone!!!  Long time no post.  The last time I tried to post it wouldn't work, and that was quite a while ago.

Thoughts and prayers going out to everyone who is in need of them.  I just glanced at the posts.

So much has been going on since I last posted!!!

Scott turned 11 on Oct. 25!!! He's getting into all the teenager stuff now, music, video games, etc...  He's doing well in school and has a teacher that loves technology so they are doing a whole lot of work on the computers this year.  Con is 8 now, and still my ornery little boy.  We are currently waiting for the school district to test him for a learning disability.  We know he has one buy which one is the question, he also seems to have a short term memory problem as well.  He's still all about music and can't wait till he's old enough to start taking lessons in middle school.  I am working now.  I am a substitute cafeteria person for the school district.  It's great work, but I can't wait to get a permament position at one of the many schools they are sending me to.  Hugs to you all.

DARYLA, Our temps are in for a BIG change too!  COLD and RAIN heading this way.  I was depressed that I couldn't enjoy any of those lovely Indian Summer days that we had this week. If it didn't get dark so early in the evenings then it was GREAT temps for going for evening walks!!!!!!!  Gee, I can remember the days when I would be running up to the Corner Store and make it just before they closed at midnight, and never think a thing about it.  NOW I am scared to be out ANYWHERE in the dark!!!!! Sad, isn't it??

My aunt said there are 2 more large boxes headed my way.... I've got to find places to put all this stuff until mom comes. I did order acid free proctectors and stuff, as well as white cotton gloves to wear while handling it. So I guess while I'm waiting for that to come in, I'll have to spend my weekend cleaning the house; which is what I planned to do until my treasure box came.

Wanted to make a quick "POP IN" to let you all know that I now have DH at home.  That sure seemed like a LONG time to be running back and forth.  I think he was in BETTER shape when he went IN the hospital and rehab than he is  now that he is home.  A physical therapist will be coming every other day to see how he is doing.  I guess after not being able to eat for so long, and a long bed stay, that it takes time to get one's strength back.  Especially as we age.  They want him to use a walker and he is not much likeing it.
So Thanks to AMY, ELAINE, ROSANNE, BETHY, SHARON, JOYCE, BARB
and all the others that sent PRAYERS for the both of us.  The are so appreciated.
Still sending BIG TIME PRAYERS up for RALPH & ROSE.  Our little "set back" seems so minor compared to theirs.

Amy...What a big treasure!!! I can surely understand you wanting to let us know about your wonderful find. What a wonderful surprise for you. What fun your mother will have going through the box with you.

Buffy..Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers too. Hoping your hubby will be home very soon. Take care now.

Boyds on QVC again....I can't wait to see the show. I will not buy anything..just love to watch the Boyds shows if I am home.

Sarah saw the neurologist today. He was very pleased with Sarah's MRI and brain wave. Both came back clean. The next step is to see AnOtHeR specialist. I can't remember the name of this one......but..this specialist will do tests to check Sarah's brain to see how it functions. I don't know how they test.........but...I just want her well. Her primary doctor has also done up more blood work. Hopefully someone will find out what is wrong with her. Sarah is going on almost two months of not working. Hopefully soon, there will be an answer.

I'm so excited!!! I just had to come share with my buddies, because I know many of you are into genealogy and history. Erich isn't, so he doesn't share my enthusiasm. The box from my aunt arrived today. At first it was photos of me through the years, but then I found stuff from WWI. There are pictures of my grandpa's uncle by marriage in his army uniform, his discharge papers, his medals, and currency from Germany and France from WWI. I went further into the box and found pictures of my grandparents as young adults, and their engagement announcement. There are letters that my Grandpa wrote to his mother (who apparently was away from the family with an illness) in 1924--Grandpa was 8 years old. On one of them he traced his hand. There are copies of birth certificates and original marriage licenses, plus death records of various family members.  There's my Grandpa's high school senior yearbook. Each of the students put their activities and then they put a quote or phrase with it. Many of them are literary or philosophical. My grandfather's is:
"I've Never seen a purple cow, I never hope to see one. But I can tell you here and now, I'd rather see than be one". I laughed until I cried reading that, because Grandpa often recited that 'verse' to us. And then-- there was the real find. A letter from my Great-Great Grandfather that is dated July 6, 1863- Gettysburg, PA.  !!!! It is a letter to his mother, telling her that they had a great battle but he is ok. Mom said we will have to get that framed.

There are also other random documents dating back to the late 1700s and early 1800s: like receipts and IOUS and stuff. Then there are several envelopes labeled 'family records', and they are lists of names and dates. I looked at them briefly, but it looks like different generations of my ancestors took time to write down some brief family history. It gives the names and sometimes birth/death dates of the writers' parents, and grandparents, and siblings, etc. They seem to be just random pieces of paper, like they thought 'I should write this down while I'm thinking of it'. There's even one for Grandma and one for Grandpa- with information I thought was lost to the ages.

I've spent almost 3 hours on the floor going through this box. Mom & I are going to really go through everything in December when she's here, because I'm hoping she can identify the people in the pictures. But I'm just so excited--I feel like a kid at Christmas. I doubt I'll get much sleep tonight!

Anyway, thanks for letting me share. I'm so glad the election is over--but I'd forgotten how annoying general commercials are too. LOL!

Hi everyone
Buffy, hugs and prayers your way.  I hope your DH gets home soon and all is okay.
I hope everyone else is doing well.
I wanted to update you on Ralph.  He condition hasn't changed much.  He is still on the ventilator and having debridement surgery every couple days.  Rose has been going to the hospital daily and I just hope she doesn't get too tired.  We are playing a waiting game right now.  Just hoping that soon Ralph will have some improvement.
Mort and I are going to Michigan on saturday to see my family.  I haven't seen them in a year.  I try to go home at least once every year to see everyone.
Have a good night all.

Hi All.

It is a gorgeous day here today. Up in the 70's and just like summer.
Hard to believe it is Nov. 5. I think these temps could be a record for us. Even our gas prices are down so that is also a plus.

I made the apple dumplings this morning and just tried one. They are delicious. Funny here in Canada you can buy 8 in a package of crescent
rolls so I had no problem at all.

Good thoughts going out to Rose & Ralph and Buff/Eileen's DH.
