I met Brian during the 1st Bangkok cup in Thailand and he was a great person. He was funny and respectable and he put the team before himself. He will be forever remembered in the hearts of many.

I have traveled to over half of the states in the U.S. and 9 foreign countries and met many different people in my life.  Through all of my travels I have met very few people that truly impressed me.  Sensei Brian and his parents, Sensei Calvin and Sensei Cathy Canterbury are definitely an exception.  I have only known them for a little less than a year but they have made such an impression on my family and I.  It was truly an honor to train under Sensei Brian for this short time and my family and I look forward to many more years of training with his parents.  You hear all of the time about athletes giving 110%.  Brian truly did each and every time he put on his uniform.  He would transform from an intelligent nice softhearted guy to a hard as steel warrior the minute he came out on the floor. You could see it in his every action. Watching him during his katas was amazing. He was truly a martial artist. I'm just afraid he didn't know how much all of us respected him and appreciated everything he did for us at the Walton dojo.  Far too often we don't tell people how we are really feeling until its too late.  So don't let this happen to you.  Make sure you tell your family how much you love them. your friends how much you appreciate them, and you sensei how much you respect them every time you get a chance before its too late.  I just hope a little of Brian's spirit goes with each one of us in karate as well as our daily lives.

Sensei Brian you are deeply missed.

Brett and I are not students, but parents who watched a young man take time to teach our daughter.  When Savannah started
learning the art of karate 2 years ago she was an introverted and shy little girl who had little confidence.  Every Monday she would have class with Brian in Walton and on Thursdays with Calvin and Cathy.   I remember how Brian would get down on his knees to work with her on kumite.  I remember that he would make her laugh and she would leave his class tired, but happy.  To see the intensity that Brian had in competition one would never think that he would work with a child with the understanding and compassion that he certainly had.  Our family will miss Brian, but we will forever see the effect and influence that he had in our daughter's life.

I remember that I always knew when I went to class and Brian was teaching I would get a real workout.  He worked us hard, but
it was fun and made me a better martial artist.  He didn't let us get away with any foolishness, but made class fun.  I will always
remember him telling me how much my fighting had improved. I will miss him.
