IRVING,TEXAS —In an attempt to cut the franchise's losses and "move forward in a positive direction," the Dallas Cowboys severed ties with controversial owner Jerry Jones Monday, ending their tumultuous 20-year relationship with the divisive figure.

According to sources within the Cowboys organization, the decision to release Jones was influenced by the lack of any playoff victories in more than 12 years, the owner's distracting sideline antics, and his selfish, "me first" attitude, which many said was having a cancerous effect on the clubhouse.

"We value Jerry's contributions to the Cowboys over the past two decades, but it has become painfully clear that we just don't share the same priorities," Cowboys public relations director Richard Dalrymple said. "This wasn't an easy choice to make, but we're confident it is a decision that can only make our team better."

"Losing to our NFC East rivals the Giants in our brand-new stadium was really the last straw," added Dalrymple, who said Jones "insisted" that the $1.2 billion facility would solve all of the team's problems. "The Cowboys need to focus on winning, and we can't do that with Jerry's incessant ego-boosting publicity stunts, or this opulent sports venue that's devoted more to himself than achieving postseason success."

Cowboys officials called Jones Sunday night to inform him he was being cut from the team, ordering the 66-year-old owner to clean out his luxury box and remove his personal belongings from the premises immediately. Jones, who was reportedly stunned to be removed from his ownership duties, issued a statement on his website thanking himself for all his hard work and years of service.

Ron,

You've been missing in action since December 17. We are waiting on more info re:57 Chevrolet. Are you searching for more photos of that "model"? On another note, I couldn't help getting a little worked up watching the Rose Bowl with Wisconsin and Oregon. As most know, we got our "On You Leopards" fight song from "On Wisconsin". Every time the Wisconsin band played it, it brought back memories!

Don't forget our military; they are coming home from the east.

(Safe video; anyone remember this?)
Many people may have forgotten about his time in the U.S. Army. He is the son of an Air Force General, and an accomplished Golden Gloves boxer

H
e graduated from Pomona College with a B.S. degree, and then became a Rhodes Scholar from Oxford University.

He joined the U.S. Army at the prompting of his father. After graduating from Officer Candidate School he attended and graduated from both Army Airborne and Ranger training in the very top of each class.
He was selected for U. S. Army Special Forces Training but refused so that he could attend pilot training where he earned his wings, and became an accomplished U.S. Army helicopter (gun ship) pilot, and achieved the rank of Captain.

He was about to be promoted to the rank of Major, and appointed to teach at West Point when he resigned his commission from the Army to go into music and acting.
You can tell in this
video that his time in the military means a lot to him.
I won’t give away who it is. You should just watch.
I bet you will be surprised!

Regarding Christmas stories, I remember it being an annual event for the family to go to view the store window display at Sears on Jefferson every year. Wow, what a spectacular job Sears did! Happy, happy times!

I also remember waking up Christmas eve one year because of some racket in our living room only to see my Dad struggling with bringing in two Schwinn bicycles for my brother and I. I was about 7 and I was undetected. I was told the next morning that "Santa" brought us the bikes. I didn't tell my younger brother for a year or two, but that is how I discovered "the big lie"!

By the way, if my last guess is wrong about the 57 Chevy, you're encouraged to send more hint photos like the previous one. God, I love the chassis on that little beauty!

Norman,
Exactly what was the quiz about?  I got distracted.  Oh yes.  There was one feature/breakthrough the 1957 V8 Chevrolet had (qualify that) that a buyer could come in the dealership and buy off the floor.  The times were just starting that you could order hi-performance equipment on other cars but the 57 Chevy dealers had some of the hi-performance ????? already on the showroom floor.

"Oh the times, they were a change' in"

Now I don't mean the Lady model.

I think the original question was:: What did the 1957 Chevy offer first that no other car manufacturer and lets qualify that "American" since I'm not too sure what those little cars in Europe and Italy were up to.  They had special order cars but our question is good ole American 3000lb. family cars.  From 57 on it was a strange American car market gas was so cheap.  Boy this was a vague clue.  Oh BTW the prize is the Escort by the red Chevy as your date to the 50th Reunion, if we can work that out.

I'll start clues 2 or 3 times a day the next day or so.
We can get into the Christmas wishes and nostalga.

My brother would always hear sleigh bells to get me to bed on Christmas Eve.  I bet everyone has some Christmas special memories.
