Your City or Town? Sherman Comments: Gene Buck died this week. Gene was a graduate of Adamson back in the 40's I believe. I worked with Gene on one of the high rise buildings going up in the 80's. He always had stories to tell about his days at Adamson. One story in particular stands out about the bully that would push his way to the front of the line every morning at the bus stop. When he finished telling this story he tells the name of the guy, turns out that guy was the principle while I was at Adamson. Gene will be missed by all that new him.

Your City or Town? Dallas Texas Comments: Good Morning Leopards, Graduating Class of 1985....
Your City or Town? dallas Comments: In regards to saving the building. How about using the districts own verbiage against them? Tag it as fiscal responsibility. Something along this line. Ask Jimerson and Hinijosa to explain this document to the public , http://www.dallasisd.org/bond/schools/adamson.html . Ask them why they supported spending almost $10 mil in 2005 on an HISTORICALLY SENSITIVE RENOVATION and new addition to a building that had the same foundation problems THEN that they are using as an excuse today. That sort of makes their argument for a new campus MUTE don't you think. Did they advocate WASTING $10 mil in 2005 ? I would ask the same question of the leader of the 2008 Bond Task Force to be answered in public. The Task Force recommended this New School to the District. The Leader of the 2008 Bond Task Force was also a member of the 2002 Bond Task Force that recommended the HISTORICALLY SENSITIVE RENOVATION of Adamson in the 2002 Bond to the District. This will be the most interesting answer to hear because this person is an ARCHITECT. How much " due diligence" was observed on those 2 separate occasions? And please don't forget to point out to the public that the same foundation problems existed during both Bond Election cycles. I would really like to see these three folks do the " one step forward three steps back crazy dance" as they answer those questions
Your City or Town? Dallas, Texas USA Comments: Is the wrecking ball on the way? Is destroying the original Adamson building on 9th St. a mistake? Tell us what you think about the DISD playing "hardball" and just building a whole new Adamson building? See-News-Blog Does anyone think it's worth fighting "city hall"? Do you think the building makes a positive impression on the students so they gain a feeling of historic connection; a positive connection with the success's of past Adamson graduates? preservation-updates What do you think; anybody??

Your City or Town? Plano Comments: Hello, Does anyone remember, Martha Ann Edwards. She went to Adamson, class of 1963. We were great friend in Jr. High, (Stockard Jr. High). After that, I went to the then new J.F. Kimball High and she went to Adamson High School. We spoke once long ago, when she was still in college. I found your site and just wish I knew whatever became of her. If anyone has any info. regarding her I would appreciate it very much. Janice

Your City or Town? Dallas, Texas (Oak Cliff) Comments:
Adamson football has begun. Looks like another good year. The Leopards have come a long way back to winning in the last two years. Try and get out to some games and support them this year. Here are some new photos from practice thanks to Coach Ragsdale. Watch http://www.adamsonalumni.com home page for updates. http://adamsonalumni.com/adamson_football_2009.html
Your City or Town? Plano, Texas Comments: Don thanks for writing and thanks for the background you carry on all connected with Adamson.
I was there the first year Mr. Beckhart was Band Director. He was strict but did smile once in a while. I think he always wanted best for his students. I was in Percussion.
Your City or Town? Atlanta, Georgia Comments: Just found this web site a couple of weeks ago. And since I have been in Georgia the last 32 years - I've never been to a reunion. While I have seen several names that I recognize - I have not seen any comments from the Senior Class of 67. Response to Leopard Band member Mike Southerland - Hi Mike. You may not remember me - since I was the quiet one in the trumpet section. But I have fond memories of those three years in the band. And even though some people didn't consider Mr. Beckhart a warm and fuzzy person - I was grateful that he kept me in the band - despite my borderline musical talent. Finally - I have to agree that the original building should be saved. Like many that went to Adamson - I was a second generation Leopard. My father and two uncles went to Adamson in the 40's. In fact my father had Jeanette Alston as one of his teacher's in 44 and I had her as one of mine in 66. Of course I don't believe that I had anything to do with her retiring - but you never know. I believe it would be a shame to destroy a building that has served the community for almost a hundred years. It's a part of the history of Oak Cliff and should be preserved. How many schools can boast that it served three and four - maybe even five generations? Adamson has been there for those of us that wandered through it hallways seeking an education and some social connections. It deserves a better fate than being reduced to a few saved bricks stuck in a modern setting. It deserves to be there another hundred years - doing what it has always done best.

Your City or Town? monterrey mexico Comments: i would like to get a copy of the picture of my generation or graduation 04 i lost my documents including diploma and everything. ---moderator comment--- I would suggest you contact the DISD main offices in Dallas, Texas. Good Luck.
Your City or Town? Plano, TX United States Comments: This is a critical time in Adamson history. Our historic building is indeed about to be destroyed unless clear heads prevail and persuade the community this historic structure is far more important to their children than a modern 20 to 30 year building. Join the Alumni Association; you're needed more than ever now. click_here http://www.adamsonalumni.com/your_bio_form.html Please consider this appeal and be sure and send in your bio (what you've been doing since school). That will attract your classmates. GO LEOPARDS!
Your City or Town? Dallas Comments: What has happened to the Class of 1970? Are any of you other "70" grads thinking about nostalgia as we grow old? I have made none of the reunions myself. That is my bad! I never felt worthy to be there. I was a nothing in high school! Probably still a nothing to most of you! But we are "Adamson 1970"! And we are under-represented on this web site. We need to come together! I am ashamed that the Sunset Class of 1970 has put it all together. They have about 75% representation on their located/active list. Time for Adamson 1970 to step up!
