Your City or Town? San Diego, Ca. Comments: You cannot do that to the oldest high school in Oak Cliff !!! Just because the Alumni no longer live in the neighborhood does not give those who never attended any of the local high schools in D.I.S.D. just because you have a position of power (and/or money)!!!!!! S.O.S. D.I.S.D. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! All of Oak Cliff please unite on this matter! Adamson alumni Class of 1984, Sadly Spoken, Margaret "Missy-K." Toombs

Your City or Town? Oak Leaf, TX Comments: Mr. Forgey was still at Adamson in 1971; he later went on to Bryan Adams where he remained until retirement.
Your City or Town? Dallas Comments: Mr. Forgey taught at Adamson from 1959 through 1968. He was born in Dallas on December 5, 1927 and passed away on October 6, 2009.
Your City or Town? Lewisville, Texas Comments:
Hi Shirley, Mary Helen Swaner (taught math) called me this afternoon to say that David Forgey (SP. sorry I don't recall if that's how it was spelled) died. Visitation will be at 6:30 Sunday night and services at 10:00 Monday morning at St. Thomas of Aquinas Church. His obit will be in either Friday or Saturday's paper and possibily Sunday's. Let any students you know about it. Thanks, Leola
Your City or Town? Lewisville, Texas Comments: Thank you so much, Ron, for letting us know about Michael Bridges. I try to keep up with the class of 1968. I will make sure the rest of our classmates know about it. I have not been on this site in quite awhile. Shirley McDonald Hawthorne
Your City or Town? Dallas, Texas Comments: As anticipated the DISD Board denied our plea last night to not oppose Landmark Status for Adamson. Board Member Carla Ranger asked excellent questions, which were largely unanswered, but the motion to oppose passed 8-1. Rod McFarland and Rene Schmidt did great representing our position, however. Dates and times will be posted here and on the homepage.
Your City or Town? Mt. Vernon Comments: I'm trying to find my dear friend Christine Gillispie; does anyone remember her or how I might get in touch with her? ---moderator comment giving a year will usually help best
Your City or Town? Enid, Oklahoma Comments: Ronnie, I don't think I can get down there for the 9/24 meeting. Hopefully, many of those that live closer can make it. At times like this I feel kind of frustrated because these meetings come with short notice and are a long ride for me. I hope those that attend will emphasize: 1. How many past graduates care so much about this as a preservation of our pasts; 2. The historical importance of the existing structure. It was the first Dallas high school south of the Trinity and it is the oldest. It is irreplaceable. 3. From a societal perspective, if we don't preserve the most historical structures and traditions from the past, it diminishes the future for all of us, old and young alike. Hope you and others will be the voices for those that can't attend. Norman Grey ' 64
Your City or Town? Sherman Comments: Gene Buck died this week. Gene was a graduate of Adamson back in the 40's I believe. I worked with Gene on one of the high rise buildings going up in the 80's. He always had stories to tell about his days at Adamson. One story in particular stands out about the bully that would push his way to the front of the line every morning at the bus stop. When he finished telling this story he tells the name of the guy, turns out that guy was the principle while I was at Adamson. Gene will be missed by all that new him.
Your City or Town? Your City or Town? Dallas Texas Comments: Good Morning Leopards, Graduating Class of 1985....
Your City or Town? dallas Comments: In regards to saving the building. How about using the districts own verbiage against them? Tag it as fiscal responsibility. Something along this line. Ask Jimerson and Hinijosa to explain this document to the public , http://www.dallasisd.org/bond/schools/adamson.html . Ask them why they supported spending almost $10 mil in 2005 on an HISTORICALLY SENSITIVE RENOVATION and new addition to a building that had the same foundation problems THEN that they are using as an excuse today. That sort of makes their argument for a new campus MUTE don't you think. Did they advocate WASTING $10 mil in 2005 ? I would ask the same question of the leader of the 2008 Bond Task Force to be answered in public. The Task Force recommended this New School to the District. The Leader of the 2008 Bond Task Force was also a member of the 2002 Bond Task Force that recommended the HISTORICALLY SENSITIVE RENOVATION of Adamson in the 2002 Bond to the District. This will be the most interesting answer to hear because this person is an ARCHITECT. How much " due diligence" was observed on those 2 separate occasions? And please don't forget to point out to the public that the same foundation problems existed during both Bond Election cycles. I would really like to see these three folks do the " one step forward three steps back crazy dance" as they answer those questions
Your City or Town? Dallas, Texas USA Comments: Is the wrecking ball on the way? Is destroying the original Adamson building on 9th St. a mistake? Tell us what you think about the DISD playing "hardball" and just building a whole new Adamson building? See-News-Blog Does anyone think it's worth fighting "city hall"? Do you think the building makes a positive impression on the students so they gain a feeling of historic connection; a positive connection with the success's of past Adamson graduates? preservation-updates What do you think; anybody??
