Coach,
I want to take a second to thank you for being a role model for me as a kid. I could have gone either way in life but managed to grow up pretty sound and with  fiber. Despite not having a father at home growing up.
You pushed not only me but our wrestling and football team to new heights while we were there at SSHS.
There are moments in life that stick in you brain. For whatever reason. I'd like to share a quote, I don't know if it was yours or borrowed. I remember I was about 16 years old in wrestling practice when you called me into your office. The talk was about grades or whatever but you said to me " Great things come out of hard work, if you don't work hard enough you'll never know how great you can be."
It has stuck to this day and I have used it over and over.
Thanks Coach,

Your Friend,
Tony Davis

Thanks for sharing your trips, Coach! Fantastic! My kayak excursions in the local streams and rivers are tame compared to your adventures, but it's fun to dream. The old Coach from UW-RF says hello!

I think your next adventure should be "The Old Way North"  Which is the the old Cree and Inuit travel way from Winnepeg to Hudson Bay.  Ernest Oberholtzer followed it in 1906.

Hi Larry,
I am more known to you as Corita Schwingle.  Enjoyed reading your journal and viewing the lovely Wisconsin photos.  My husband and I love to travel and have done some canoeing, but not big trips such as yours.  What wonderful adventures you have!!!  Nice website!  Thanks for sharing

Coach - I played football for you at SSHS back in the early 1980s.   Those high school years were some of the best in my life.  Anyhow, I've been reading your journal on and off for the past few years.  You are really a great writer.  When I retire in twenty years or so, I'm going to try to do something similar...albeit, much less demanding.   Keep up the good work!

Wow Larry!!!  I emailed Heidi for the first time in I couldn't tell you how long.  I asked about you and she told me to check out your web page!  It's amazing what you're doing!  I'm going to bookmark it so I can keep up with you...  It seems like just yesterday I was rollerskating in your basement!    Take care and be careful!  I'll keep you in my prayers!
