Comments: I have a copy of the book "Aluminum Trail" written by Chick Marrs Quinn, widow of 1st Lt Loyal Marrs, KIA on February 27, 1945 flying a C-109 over the Hump.
The book is a compilation of MARCs (Missing Air Crew Reports) of aircraft lost in the CBI. It includes much information on the squadrons of the 7th Bombardment Group.
We are hoping to reprint this incredible book since it has been out of print for years. It summarizes 696 air losses in the CBI from mid 1942 to Sept. 1945. of the 3,498 men (and women) killed, 249 are from the 7th.

Comments: Seeking information on my uncle Robert G. ("Buddy") McKissack, who served as a bombagator in the 7th Bombardment Group in India, 1942-1945.
FWIW, here's a story, related to me by my aunt, of when Uncle Buddy came home from the war. After he was discharged and returned to the States, he called my grandmother from Jackson, Mississippi -- about 20 miles from his hometown -- to tell her he'd be arriving home on the next train. Word spread quickly throughout the small town (Bolton -- population 600) that Buddy was coming home from the war. By the time his train pulled into Bolton Station a few hours later, the entire town -- white and black -- was at the depot. After welcoming him, they walked about a mile with him through the streets to reach the home where he grew up. The crowd overflowed the streets and and walked across front lawns. When they reached the McKissack home, my grandmother would not come out of the house, fearful she would lose her composure. She was sitting in the backyard, waiting. Family legend tells that she was wearing an apron on which she had wiped tears of worry for him over the past 3 years, and the salt had faded the blue flowers decorating it to almost invisible spots. Granny and Uncle Buddy's reunion was private.
Cheers to any of you surviving 7th men and God Bless what you did for our country.

My dad was in WWII and Korea, served in North Africa and England just before D-Day, I've been told he dropped paratroopers over Normandy on D-Day, died in 1961 while we were stationed at SAC Headquarters in Omaha. Since I was only 12, I didn't realize the importance of his history. I have his bombers jacket and it has the 7th Bombardment Group H patch. Does anyone have any information on him?

My Uncle was WW II first with Goad crew and then with the 493rd Bomber Squadron, 7th Bomber Group, Heavy. He was shot down over Burma and died of Burns in Rangoon Prison in 1943. His name was John C. Kelley. When bringing his body home in 1945 or 1946 that C47 plane went down and was never recovered. I am looking for any info that anyone might have. Thanks.

Comments: Hello. I am writing to ask if any readers recall a Captain Edwards who would have been in Burma/India as early as 1942-43, and would have spent a great deal of time in the city of :Lucknow India. I think it is very possible that he was with the 7th Bomb group and may have been involved with supplies or transport.
I would also be interested to hear from anyone who remembers the U.S. Officers club in Lucknow that was at the Carlton Hotel on Shahnajaf Rd which meets Hazratgunj and Newel Kishore Rd.
I would appreciate any help you can offer with this.
Thank You Ian Robertson

I just acquired some prints from an aerial negative of Panda taken on Feb. 22, 1944. Three Libs are visible in the photo gathering for takeoff; one of them is already rolling down the runway. Since the 9th's revetments are full of planes and the 493rd's are not, I suspect the latter squadron had a combat mission that day. Can someone identify this mission and its objective for me? Please use my e-mail address from the list on this site. Thanks.
